Dingwall Owners Club

I made the mistake of emailing Barry about the Super P with FD3, and got the price list... Needless to say, I'm gonna start saving ASAP. And the price list even says they'll do full custom colors, so I might actually send them a paint chip from my Fender P in Capri Orange when the time comes.

I am in the process of setting up an order for a Super P, and I'm down to the last two options. It will be a trans white over ash, with wenge neck and board, tort guard, drop D tuner (it will be a 4 string), and trying to decide on the standard pearloid dots or pay the price for pearloid blocks, and whether to add the FD3 at the bridge.

Those two options would add $600! Not sure if that would be all that wise! But it sure would be sweet! Maybe I should go with Bridge PUP and be practical and somewhat indulgent.:rollno::help::bassist:

Sheldon really took a well thought out gamble when he decided to start with the Super series.
I was showing one of my friends some online pics of Dingwalls and while he immediately liked the idea of the graduated string length, he said he couldn't picture owning or playing on, until he saw pics of the Super P.
Now he can't wait to get his hands on one to give it a try.

It's only money ! :D

That will be gorgeous regardless of the additions.

I was only semi-awake and conscious when I checked for e-mail this morning. The message from Sheldon accelerated the process - my sonic blue Super P is in final assembly and will ship this week! He asked my string preference (so cool to have a choice!) and I chose the new nickels.

The new Super P's done! The new Super P's done!
(me and Zoomie acting like Steve Martin in "The Jerk") ;)

We'll be co-bass newlyweds !

Outstanding.

Sheldon took the liberty of putting the new nickels on mine as well and I was downright giddy as it gives me the opportunity to try them.

Hmmm... If we split up, do I have to pay palimony? :rollno:

Giddy is the word. I'm on vacation so will have plenty of time to play around with the newest joyful noise generator. :D

Will yours actually be 'in-hand' this week?

Totally agree. It's Sheldon's continued commitment to innovating his instruments, both existing and through creating new models, that attracts new customers while keeping the rest of us coming back for more. Of course, and there's the customer service as well.

Is that the color Sheldon calls Supersonic? Should be gorgeous! Sonic is my favorite P color of all time.

I decided to go with transwhite because I really want a wenge neck, and it just seems maple neck and board is the optimal choice for Sonic blue.

Also, I found inspiration in Zoomie's new p, as well as Reddavid's new combo of Red tort, white body and dark board.

Plus that transwhite NAAM bass didn't exactly dissuade me either!

Now, to J pup and blocks, or not to J pup and blocks.:hmm:

PS LOVE The Jerk! "He hates these cans!"

Ha! And I don't even have a wife that requires that all important second level of approval!

But you are not helping me be fiscally responsible!

And your bass was part of the inspiration for mine. Definitely different, but still in the same genus for sure. Yours, and Reddavid's new look for his Super J and Smallmouth Bass's basses (say THAT 10 times really fast) and that NAAM bass in transwhite with tort that has haunted me and taunted me for almost a year.

Here's a question for those who have ordered and received, does someone contact you just prior to the build to confirm the order/specs....or (unless you opt to PING them) are you just contacted when build is complete/ready to ship? I know I still have a long way to go...not really being impatient per se...just wondering out loud. :)

That was my favorite line from the whole movie, mostly because of the way he said it too!

I can just hear him saying "...and that's all I need, this thermos, and this. I need this Super-P, and that's all I need." :smug:

I need THIS!

So many great lines. I love when after Steve and Bernadette "play" their little duet, he goes through that whole description of how he "just now, while you were playing, I imagined going into the trumpet, travel all around through the bends and valves, and come out through the mouthpiece to give you a kiss. And when he asks "Why didn't you?" he answers, "because I didn't want to get spit on me."

Classic for sure.

I discovered while spec'ing this one with Barry, that they are not the same. When we were confirming color, this is the sample of Supersonic Blue that he sent me:

I really dig transparent white. That will be beautiful with the all wenge neck, blocks or dots...

I'm picking out a thermos for you, not just any thermos for you! :D :D :D

If there isn't a dealer within 100 miles, you may order direct. Just spec it with Barry via e-mail and/or telephone and then try to be patient until you get that wonderful e-mail from Sheldon telling you that your instrument is just about ready to ship. No one will contact you right before the build...

For those that have ordered with Barry: How much $ down was needed? What is the price comparison with going through a dealer? I live in KY and used The Bass Place in AZ, Dennis is a great dude. I'm definitely over the 100 mile radius, at the time of my order I didn't realize it.

Everyone: Contemplating a Combustion 5. Found a new black and maple for $1137+shipping, is this good if I decide to go that route?
