Hi, I believe these questions should be asked to your local Dingwall dealer or least of all to Barry if you are ordering the bass directly. No one can give you that concise answer because the down payment might differer from country to country or perhaps even state, and it would be embarassing for any of us to give you an estimated not being "in the know" which might end up be inaccurate. I'd love to help but I'd hate to be wrong at the same time.

If you ask Barry you'll be sure to get a reply within a day or even hours sometimes.

Now, I thought that was chrome blue. I'm confused!

I like that blue, but I LOVE sonic blue. I think the wenge with transwhite should be a nice chocolate and vanilla combo. I've decided to go with dots. Still pondering the bridge pup. I assume that will be rotary ala Tony Franklin in keeping with the Dingwall tradition, anyone know?

This photo is Chrome Blue. I believe the color BuffaloBob is referring to several pages back is Sonic Blue. We did offer a Supersonic blue that was a more vibrant version of Sonic but it hasn't been ordered in years.

I've uploaded a Sonic blue and Chrome blue to the Super P gallery to make the colors easier to identify.

Pricing would be the same. You can't go undercutting your dealers. :smug:

Oh great! Thanks Sheldon! I was all good with my color choice and then you had to go and post that Supersonic blue one! ;)

Wow, that is a cool color. It is more vibrant than regular Sonic blue, which I also love.

Personally, I think the wenge would look great with the supersonic blue, kinda like the fiesta red one they made for Nolly.

MostlyBass - non-issue for me. My Afterburner definitely had banjo size frets which worked just fine for me. :cool: Your question made me wonder if the fret wire used on the Super series is banjo size. While poking around on the Dingwall site to check (they are banjo), I learned something:

From the Dingwall site:

"Neck Reinforcement on Super J

The double expanding style is one of the industry standards. However, our method of installation – taught to us by Glenn McDougall of Fury Guitars, involves gluing the truss rod into the neck under almost 1000-LB of pressure. This creates a coupling of steel to wood, minimizing dead spots and increasing both sustain and harmonic content."

I don't know what frets I have in my Dingwalls, but I love them. I like that they almost require me to play with a lighter touch.

I have had other basses off and on that have jumbos, and I don't mind them but I have come to prefer the smaller frets myself.

I've always been a jumbo fret guy, although I've always been fascinated by the smooth gliss that Leland Sklar gets with his mando frets.

I was curious about the banjo frets when ordering my ABZ, but prepared to have them replaced with jumbos if necessary.

Now that I've tried them, I have no interest in going back.

In the long run they may wear a little faster because of the smaller radius on the contact area, but I love the way they sound and feel. I would have expected string bends and vibrato to be harder, but that hasn't been the case.

I'm at the light end of the scale in terms of touch and attack, FWIW.
