Dingwall Owners Club

If this isn't the verbiage of a Dingwallaholic, I don't know what is! LOL! He hasn't even gotten his new and long-awaited Super P in his hands yet, and he's already dreaming of the next order!!! Tff!

And of course Sheldon, chief enabler and erstwhile supplier to his addicts, is only too happy to create the next must-have innovation that we all must DAS over and find some way to acquire!!

Oh well, I guess there are arguably worse or at least more destructive addictions out there.:help:

PS. Congrats on the new SP Zoomie!

The trick to buying Dingwalls is to order one about the time a new one shows up. That way the honeymoon of the new bass caries you through the build. If I hadn't NEEDED the P sound in a 5 string for the last two months, I wouldn't have been twitching !

I have been jonsing for a P J (versus J P) since I played a Tony Franklin. To grab another Fender makes no sense. Now a Dingwall PJ would make sense.

Zoomie I've just realized your Super P reversed it's a very close replica of Dave Swift's SP5

Actually, I mirrored this P build on the prototype rendering done by Jango that came out of the Dingwall shop back in 2008. The only difference is that I believe the orginal rendering was not in vintage white but another shade.

The Reverse P was on your advice after playing playing Dave's bass though. No doubt about that.

Dave Swift's bass is trans white kind of Mary Kay Fender trans white with morado (pau ferro) board and the only difference is that his pickguard is black.

Ah yes, now the rationalization begins! Perfectly logical. Completely rational. Excellent!

Never a dull moment at the Dingwall shop. :)

Dig it!!!
+++1111!!!

I just ordered a second bass from my local luthier, one of the best in this part of Europe, but I only play 4 strings, and it will be my second fretted 4 string, but it comes a time in life when you NEED a 5 string bass... and the weapon of my choice is Dingwall! By the end of 2014 I will order or buy one, hoping to get Lee Sklar model in CAR, but at least Combustion if my plans don't work out, but Dingwall all the way!
Used to be a big big fan of 5 string MusicMans & Laklands, but once you hear Dingwall, you never go back! :D

I'll be the first to say that Dingwall makes some nice 4 string basses.

Interesting to see the different scalloping towards the end of the headstock on the P vs the J.

Very nice pair! I think the pearl is an improvement, but I would always pick pearl over 'plain'. :) Are you bonding with your J? My curiousity was prompted by your comment that it would be the one to be liquidated to fund a P/FD3 in the event that you decided to commission one.

I'm giving you an A+ for these photos. The lighting is especially cool in the headstock comparison picture. I like how you got a gun metal effect with the chromed surfaces. It's interesting the light angle emphasized the lettering inside the scallop on the J. I've always liked the scalloped design of the Super series but I'm liking the new more rounded effect even more. I knew from the start that Sheldon's taste wasn't all in his mouth. ;) ;) ;)

Would you believe it was delivered today? No idea that USPS would deliver on a Sunday.

That's a new one on me. I'll have to ask my letter-carryin' brother about this...

USPS went into partnership with Amazon so that now they deliver on Sundays. Apparently not in all areas, but they're rolling it out in certain places as a test to see if they can improve holiday delivery.

So many awesome new Dingwalls showing up, makes me jealous.

In the meantime, let me share with all the Dingwallians of the forum a video from my very first gig with my newest band, and sadly the first gig with my now-three year old ABZ5!

Here we are in set 2, jamming to a classic...
