Dingwall Owners Club

I haven’t bought a Dingwall (yet), but giving serious thought towards selling a couple Fenders and buying one. I recently went on a search for a Caveman BP1C and ended up buying from John Fox Bass. Extremely knowledgeable and willing to share anything and everything bass. John is also a Dingwall dealer and there’s no question that when I’m ready to pull the trigger, I’ll be buying it from John! It was after 10 pm on the east coast where John lives and I was going to leave a message. John answered the phone and spent close to a half hour going over the BP1C pedal, but convinced me about what great basses the Dingwalls are!

JFB is who I ordered my Dingwall from. Nothing but excellent service!

Hey guys! Need a quick opinion! A few of my friends are chipping in to buy one of our friends a used Dingwall. I found one locally that's a great deal, however it's a 2 pickup, 5 string combustion. My NG3 is 3 pickup. Is 2 vs 3 pickup really that big of a deal or is 2 just fine and I'm overthinking it? Mind you, he's never owned a nice bass. Nothing above $500, so either way it would be huge for him and he'd be stoked either way.

Thanks!

I think your friend will be stoked & blown away with a 2 pickup Combustion (that was my gateway Dingwall 12 or 13 years ago).
I haven’t kept up with the imports as much but I know some of the 2 pickup ones are routed for a 3rd pickup and Dingwall sell the 3rd pickup separately.

Anyone get an SP1 yet? Considering snagging either a black or green one (not even sure if 4 or 5!), but it'd mean selling a lot of other stuff. Figure the price is going to go up and it'd be way better than my current P type objects.
Dealers already started to raise prices.

Not sure if the raises will continue, but I'm waiting more for reviews and to get my hands on one. I literally just bought an NG3 and my goal was to pick up a D-Roc by end of year. So SP-1 is likely to be a 2026 acquisition for me.

Apparently Bass Central expects their first batch over the next few weeks, and the next batch will be July/August.

The prices are likely to keep going up, so imo it's worth preordering at a decent price while you can if you're for sure getting one.

I managed to find a preorder at the initial price for a green 4 that I'll be taking over from someone that changed their mind - couldn't say no that!

Side note - what are the 4 options on the rotary knob on the SP1, anyways? Don't see that covered anywhere...

P.S. If anyone is interested in making an offer for my fretless Tony Franklin PJ in the discontinued vintage sunburst finish please let me know, I be listing it soon since it'll have to go to make room for the SP1.

I read somewhere that the 4 options are neck solo, bridge solo, both parallel, and both series. I think it's about time Dingwall put something on their website. It's surprising that they are getting ready to ship them out to dealers and don't even have published specs yet.

Just paid my SP1 this morning after the dealer told me mine, will arrive May 20th. I am now counting the days. 😂

Does anyone here have one of the 2025 ng3 with the minimalist bridge? How does it compare to the individual saddles? I'm trying to decide if I should wait for the new models to become available in the US or go for an available 2024 model.
You can get a retro fit. Not sure when it will be available but it will be available later this year I believe. I'll likely try to upgrade.

That was per Jason from Fretnation about my tobacco burst 5, although I'm not sure if possibly some dealers are getting an earlier batch and some later.

Lack of promotion on these does seem kind of odd to me.

Ah I'm in Ireland so it's possible the first batch is going to the States. Or I wonder if they're shipping them out everywhere. Hopefully it's the latter!

Yep. Price is up about 10% since I pre-ordered mine a few weeks ago.
Gotta love tariffs 😒
