I don't want to look like a b*tch complaining about lack of a wenge option. I guess I had my hopes up to high when the Effigy was announced. My plan was to drop down to just two basses - my Super PJ and an Effigy with a wenge neck and was playing with a few colors. Now, reality doesn't match up with my expectations, so, kinda bummed. So, I'll spend the weekend playing around with color combos and hopefully one will look good with the naked wood block in the middle. Gah, even if I could get a maple fingerboard I could come up with a good looking combination. Maybe I should just not think about it and revisit in a few days. I know, first world problems. Heh.
I know it's likely not a good answer @MultiScaleMale , but, one option could be to buy one as-is with the maple part of the neck exposed, and then either have that block dyed or painted after you get it in hand. This is assuming you don't mind the cost and time for that, and also otherwise are OK with a maple neck.
For me, the maple neck is enough of a turn off that I'd wait for a (hopeful) later iteration where there's some more options available.

Not saying it's inexpensive, but I had a local guy cap the maple block on my AB1 with wenge. So, not impossible to get that look.

I think this is the purchaser of this bass as it was listed by the dealer a few years ago..... One of my Favs ever!!!
Life has far greater temptations for me at this time then more bass so my will power to look away and downsize is holding fast

The inlays and logging on the headstock are actually a bit of an old throwback to the 90s ( My old 4 String)
It seems like they utilized the body of the fast lane as it has the reverse horn like a prima vs the standard Ab or Z lower horn too. I really like the reverse horns
Kinda random, but does the D-Roc typically have more string tension and low end than an NG3? Both setup relatively about the same, same string gauge, etc.

It sounds really good! Most of the headless basses I've heard sound "good" with grit/Disto but holo/empty on their own. As expected This sounds killer clean
That maple burl Z on Reverb is indeed stunning. Very well thought out custom.
More low end, probably, due to the pickups being slightly farther from the bridge.
More tension with the same strings? Technically the strings will be under the same tension since the gauges and scale length are the same. However, there could be a difference in perceived tension due to a different break angle over the bridge, different neck construction, or a number or other variables.
I have an NG and a D-Roc and they certainly feel different. I'm not entirely sure why but I suspect the minimalist bridge on the D-Roc vs the individual pieces on the NG is a big variable.
I didn’t consider the different bridges. That makes sense. I definitely enjoy playing with more tension.
The main difference is where you pluck it, which gives you a different sensation. They are slung differently.

I find them pretty much the same in regards to string tension and such. The active NG3 is def a little different tonally than the D-Roc (mine is an older D-Bird). That is the biggest difference imo.
I put a P tone in the neck position of my (2x) AB-I. Very nice, but since it's long scale (and not in the traditional sweet spot), it doesn't sound and feel like a precision bass. I get my P fix with a four-string Super P and Super J/P. The pickup on the S J/P is 1/4" closer to the neck compared to the P. Slightly less mids and an amazing voice.

FWIW...I've got a P-Tone in the neck of my ABZ5 (bridge - FDV). When I don't have both pickups engaged in series, peoples let me know, in so many words, where's the beef?

I was so busy at the Darkglass booth that I didn’t have time to shoot any content for my own channel, but i go to play the headless bass for a few mins and it’s pretty sick!
