Different color than your other one?
Yes. As favor to me, Mark pulled my Faitals out of my Orginal Dually and used them for this build. The original Dually cab was repurposed for another bassist.
I played them side by side. The DuallyT is better to my ears. Only slightly, but definitely better.
I told Mark at Greenboy Audio that he's an idiot if he doesn't demo his cabs with a Dingwall. He thought I was blowing smoke........until he heard the Super J5. So he bought a Ding, you know, "for the shop."
But it's never at the shop because he takes it to all his electric gigs ! OWNED, by the guys from Saskatoon !
Well.....my first Dingwall arrived this morning.....an Afterburner I in pristine condition. I've always wanted to get my hands on a fanned fret bass to see what is was like, but never had the chance, so I just bit the bullet and snag this one. I read plenty of posts where owners said it took them 5 min, 10 minutes, an hour, etc. to get used to the fanned fret system and never looked back.
....Well, it took me no measurable time....immediately felt natural to my hand position, playing and fingering style. Scale length was not an issue - I sometimes play my 35" Jon Hill so it was not a quantum leap. LOVE IT! Love the pups and 4 position selector...great range of tones for such a simple setup. Also, light as a feather....I'm going to really dig that for long sets. Nice to know I can jump back and forth between the Dingwall and my conventional basses and not think much about it.
......soon, I'm sure, I will be looking for a Super PJ or Super J. The slightly shorter scale is an attractor that has my curiousity peaked.

Congratulations - that is a gorgeous specimen you have! The burst is perfection. It is a leap of faith to invest in designs that are a departure from the norm, but in the case of Dingwall, oh so worth it. They are simply in a league of their own. I've found the closest thing to perfection on earth for me in Sheldon's medium scale Super series basses.

Mark knew that they were going to bury me with this cabinet after my time on the original Dually so he added the monogram as a surprise. Such a touching gesture.
I love the color ! It's visually interesting.
Sheldon, hopefully one day you'll get to hear one of your babies through a Greenboy Audio cab. It will remind you just how amazing your basses truly sound.

A friend of mine has this lovely ABII 5 with a rare spalted maple top body, it has a walnut neck with wenge fingerboard and we've had some fun swapping necks with my redwood ABII 5 to see what the roasted maple neck looks like on either bodies, here are 3 shots.
First the spalted maple body on its own
Then with the roasted maple neck
And last back on my redwoood ABII 5 (where it will stay!!)
