yeah I played mine in church today and it killed it was so easy to play and it was clear and punchier then my old bass. its pretty much the truth.

I think you'll have no issue w/ dropped tuning on a Dingwall bass, the long scale really helps out.
I've dropped down my B & E on a number off occasions and both dropped strings sound clear and authoritative w/ no floppy-ness.
Of course you can buy a Dingwall- just because its a heck of bass, but if you want to drop tune- Dingwalls are a way to go
