Dingwall Owners Club

Last night I joined my brother's band for the rehearsal (what better excuse to try a Dignwall )

The band's bass player had a well known J-inspired bass (I've played that bass in the past and it's really one of the top J basses I've played) and a little later a top session pro came by with another top bass, straight after a studio recording (names withheld to protect the innocent ;))

The GL Dingwall was THE bass, in every aspect. Once I replaced the GL with either of the other two great basses, the whole band (as well as the other two bass players) asked me to plug the GL back in. Sheldon really delivers!!!

(Drum roll)

Now we are ready to welcome the newest member of my Dingwall family

The GL

Fullie...is this the NAMM protoype for the new afterburner combustion basses? How did you get a hold of this?? :) :ninja:

As far as acquiring the GL, I can only say that it's one very fine custom AB I and I am glad it ended up in my hands ;) :ninja: (it's been further customized with the Villex pickups and electronics)

I'd LOVE to join this club. Hopefully some time in my life I'll own a Dingwall.

The Z3 is one of my favourite instruments ever. Especially in all those crazy burst colours. The SJ5 looks awesome too. Unfortunately they don't pop up in Indonesia much, and when they do, they are pretty pricey :crying:
the Combustion an ABZ has a nice affordable price, but still they don't pop up in Indonesia :bawl:. I might have to buy one off the Canada Ebay if/when I ever get one.

I only GAS for three basses now days,

Dingwall Z3 5str, Pavel Aryel 5str, and Fender P-Bass american deluxe V. :hyper:

Gorgeous AB I you got there Wademeister63

I apologize for the late membership number but I was out of town. You are granted number #56 in the Dingwall Club

I'm sorry I have not appeared over here in the recent days. I've been very busy in my day work with many other issues coming up, but I've been very involved in recording and rehearsing (add an unexpected gig last night as well)

I was recording at a studio and there was the drummer, in his 50s, full time session pro, playing those nice patterns. Anyway, I played my parts live (as most of the times) and as I was ready to leave, the drummer asked me if I could stay for a little longer. He really liked my playing and he asked me about the bass I had (Dingwall Z3, of course) and he gave me the nod of approval over the tones I used in the song. Then he said "Don't take it the wrong way, but this bass sounds like the bass strings of a Grand Piano!!!" ROTFL. He could not have said it better!!!

I subbed for another bass player last night, at a Rock, Hard Rock gig. I had my Z3 again and my Amp One AER amp (amazing combination really). The drummer (again another pro) was doubting if that bass and amp could really perform, but he did not want to ruin the gig by expressing his thoughts. At the first pause between the first and second song, he apologized for his (unknown to me) thoughts over the bass and the amp and from that point onwards he actively pushed me to play the most and the best I could (within the frame of the songs, but not sticking to the patterns of them but rather on the mood and energy of the songs). It was fun. Even a bass player friend of mine who was present (and knows my Dingwalls) he was amazed over the tone of the Z3 (his no1 Dingwall is my avatar Z1) and he added "you are REALLY playing!!!" (meaning I was covering up for the absence of a 2nd guitar and of a keyboard)

More Dingwall stories to follow in thew next few days (maybe some pics as well)

Hey guys.I hope no one minds me posting here, but I wanted to know if anyone, and I know it might be a long shot, has a Dingwall AB1 or any other Dingwall model 4 string with fancy flame top they would like to trade for a 2006 U.S. Peavey Cirrus 4 in redwood with a pao board. It is in mint condition and never gigged. With no issues whatsoever. Thanks Joe

IMHO I think you will have better luck if you post in the "Wanted" section and place "Dingwall" in the tread tittle

Thanks fullrange I will try that.:D

Hi Joe, I thought of you last night after we spoke...I noticed that a Dingwall regular is selling a AB-1 with flame top that appears to be an older one (FD-1) on Sheldon's message board. I bet he's not looking for a trade, but if you're willing to go 5 string, it might be worth a look.
