From the Dingwall Facebook page... unlined fretless. My god, so much want. Unbelievable amounts of desire for that. Maybe that'll be my next Dingwall, a custom, unlined fretless. Did one of you guys order this?

Just got the email from Sheldon, my AB1 is done! Placed the order back in April and I couldn't be more excited to finally have it in my hands.

I've got nothing against lined fretless, gonna have a go at one myself, but I love the look of unlined fretless, and well, wow, really?
I wish I were up to the challenge of staying in tune on a multi-scaled fretless!
That's beautiful.

Nothing compares to a new Dingwall bass day! :D I still remember my first (alder/maple/wenge AB-1) - the package was so light that I rushed to open it to verify that it actually contained an instrument. ;)

I have a blackburst very similar to yours. Congrats! I'm loving it!

Actually, mine is an ABZ. But it has the same electronics as yours.

So is the finish on your AB1 glossy? Hard to tell from the pick. If it is, I'll bet it's even prettier than mine! I do like my matte finish. That blackburst in a glossy finish MUST be awesome!

After checking the tuning and beginning to noodle on the Sonic P this evening, I quickly discovered that the G string had totally wonked out. I just happened to have a set of LaBella tape wounds last worn by a sonic blue CV 60's precision that have been hanging on a wall in a storage bag for about four years. I trimmed and tuned them and after resuming my noodle interruptus, remembered how nice these sound on a good precision bass. I'm thinking that they'll be staying on the Super P for a while... :cool:

I love that PG, It's a perfect match for Sheldon' sonic blue.

I am actually thinking about doing the unthinkable, and trying a set of TI Flats on my Super P. I am not a flats fan at all. But I was thinking it might be fun to try them to see how they work with the Super P tone.

The black abalone and sonic blue are one of my favorite schemes. :cool:

I think the only Dingwall I tried flats on was my Afterburner and they were TI's. Very cool vibe! I'm a round wound guy at heart - the tapes will probably get changed back to steels when the other two are ready for a fresh set. :)

It is indeed the gloss finish. My initial order was actually an ABZ as well, but I found that my matte/satin-finished basses wear out a lot faster than my Fender Marcus (gloss), and I figured that since I'm going to be gigging with the bass a lot I'd like the extra protection for the wood, so I upgraded to the AB1 for the gloss.
