Hey errbody, while I loooove my ABZ, I seem to be jonesin for another Afterburner 3X. Does anyone in here have the HS (I think that's the correct nomenclature)? The heavy bodied AB, that is. If so, what does it do for you over the standard woods in the AB's?

I'd love to play one of the new four-string Combustions. Unfortunately, I don't see it happening as I don't plan on buying one and there are no dealers around.

It's all good as I'm still in a state of complete satisfaction with my Super trio, and experiencing zero DAS.

Finally ordered a P-tone PUP for my ABZ. I'm actually really happy with the bass as is, but if the P-tone does what I think it will, I am going to be ga ga!

My expectation is that it will dial the modern tone back a bit, and perhaps nudge it a bit more toward a vintage vibe.

For those who have experience with P-tones in ABs, would I be wrong in having this expectation?

No, I don't think that's an unrealistic expectation. I have the P tone in both my ABZ and AB1. To my ears, the P tone brings I little more mid forward tone and a tad more grind without losing too much clarity...something that the big scale DW's have to spare. I'm in love with the tone from the P tone pup. I wouldn't have it any other way.

You will really like the P tone, and it's an easy install.

I had one on my alder/maple/wenge AB-I and really dug it. Talk about massive precision tone - big and beautiful.

Well, my NG-2 landed today after many hours chasing after the FedEx truck. First, thank you @TimWatson for an amazing bass. New couldn't be any better. Just great and very pleased.

I'll post up my detailed thoughts once things settle and I have more time with it but I have to say my initial impressions are very positive.
