I got to spend a few quality minutes with a Combustion and NG2 a few weeks ago. I really like the necks on these and wish I could have spent more time with them! 
Holy Crap....I think I am about to join the club again. I am in negotiations to buy an Afterburner 5 with flame top/trans blue for $1500.00. I can't afford it, but I can't pass it up. I already made the mistake of selling 2 Afterburners previously.

Thanks man! I was originally looking at an NG2 but figured the wild colors and tones wouldn't go over too well with all the different gigs I do so i went with the more "traditional" Combustion.Welcome to you and your black beauty!
It's a custom yellow to greenburst over a spalted maple x-top. I started with the idea of just yellow at first but after seeing a few of the greenburst finishes I thought I'd go all out. It's pretty much exactly what I had in mind with the black really popping out and the grain adding a nice worn look. I wanted something that looked distressing and they nailed it. It's perfect.
I am absolutely enjoying the P-tone pickup. I can't quite put my finger exactly on it but it's like it pulls some of the lows out and gives you a little more low-mid and mid. It's got this insane pop to the note envelope that's real sharp and punchy. With the Darkglass pre-amp it sounds absolutely magic. It's very clear and modern but still has that snap to it. It's hard to describe but kind of sounds like small firecrackers under my fingertips.
I think it's awesome as is, but black pearloid would be pretty cool as well.
I saw that colour while looking at bursts as well on an older model DW and loved it. TBH I asked dealer quoting me what your colour and upcharge cost was but have not heard back yet. I've am actually more in love with the greenburst to black on a satin finish, but this is amazing as well!

I'm glad you're liking it and that it arrived safe and sound. It was a great bass for me, especially with the upgrades. I hope it serves you well, and also look forward to seeing some in action pictures!
That is one of the reasons I ended up with my Combustion. Very pleased with the tonal changes in adding the DG pre amp and the third pick up though.
This may be a stupid question.... series/parallel switches on a Super PJ.. can you do it, is there any point etc?

Yep. I see him regularly on Facebook and on the Dingwall VIP group. He's just done a set of custom wound Nordie FD3's and complex electronics package on his newer yellow/green burst Z.
