Here's my Super P through a Gallien Krueger MB800 into a Euphonic Audio Wizzy 10 (carefully!) at the Royal Festival Hall in London a couple weeks ago. I was feeling the tone!

Nothing too exciting to anyone but me I'm afraid, but still exciting none the less... It's a 4 string NG 2 in Ducati White.

Despite having a dealer here I've never seen or touched a Dingwall so it's my first toe into Sheldon's world and probably won't be the last.

I'm sure it'll still be my everything once it arrives, and it needs to hold me over for a few years as the expendable income will be taking a hit with the new house next year...

Too funny - still haven't told my wife yet....still trying to figure that part out but I am running out of time. I've been selling gear so she knows something is up. I ordered late December and the body was on the way to the paint booth about 3 weeks ago - but I changed the colour at the last minute. I have a September ETA and not sure if its delayed based on the change or not. The waiting is getting harder at this point...congrats on the order :thumbsup:

Man, all of that makes me so happy with who I married. My wife actively encourages my bass habits, and was pretty much as happy with my Dingwall order as I was. So much so, that she even noticed when I skimped on a couple of options, and asked about it haha. No need to hide or sneak about with it.

It probably helps that she's a musician, just as active as I am. While she doesn't have GAS, she does quite well understand good instruments.

That's cool that she is supportive!
My wife has never said much of anything about my musical purchasing or playing out but a few months ago when I was looking at a NG2 that came in and ooohing and aahing over it, she told me I better order more 5 string basses. And the reason for this is that I am a 4-string guy and I tend to fall in love with quality basses; her reasoning is that if I order more 5's the temptation to keep them will be less. Don't know, I may just become a 5 string guy.

Years ago I had a couple of 5's but never really got into them. They just didn't ever feel right and I am faster on the 4. But when I picked up a NG2 5er it was a totally different ball game; it feels right. However, I am still faster on a 4.
Overall, I think possibly there is a trend of players going back to 4's. But since Dingwall has the famous low B, I am still not sure if this overall trend I have seen applies to the Dingwalls. Right now, I am seeing about 50/50 with them.

i get told to try 4s is because the materials that i like tends to be alternative tunings.

I understand what your saying and there could be something to that. Personally, I have only recently got back into 4s after a long break. It began as soon as I got my AB2. I like the fun a 4 offers and hope to one day have a 4 string Dingwall but at this point I'm moving towards a 6 it seems..... For now.

I played 5'rs for years.. since I would say the mid 90's, but now, I find that outside of the once in a while low D, I really have no need for the 5 string bass anymore.. I thought that I would need it again, but through trial and error, I have come to the point that it really isn't needed.
