I'm having trouble with Kalium on my 4-string Z2; their long 106 is too long for my E string and their short 106 is too short -- I wish they made a 106M, cuz I'm otherwise happy with the sound and feel of the strings.

Honestly. Get bluescat to send you some Paysons. They are killer. Priced well and very much worth it.

I've tried 3 and just can imagine what 4 would do. On my gig Saturday I doubt I even used half of the SPL capacity of 2 BA cabs.

I've heard such good things about these strings but I'm so completely happy with the dingwalls and the paysons are killer so I just don't know when I'll get around to trying them.

If I was tuning in standard, I'd still be using the Dingwall strings, but I'm tuning down a half-step.
I have a HipShot on my E, so the Dingwall E was a bit floppy at C# -- I put together my custom set to aim for roughly 40 lbs. tension on each string.
The E is a little more than that when tuned to D# and a little under that tuned to C#.

I have never checked for precise tension. Hmmmm.
On my Z 5 string I keep it in D standard and I've been both happy with the dingwalls and the paysons. I do believe the pasyons increased the tension a bit.

I used the Kalium nickel steels back when they were Circle K strings, back before Sheldon had expanded to provide nickel steels. Then I tried the Dingwall nickel steels and liked them, too and just used the Dingwalls. I recently tried the Payson reduced core strings and love them. But I would have to go back and retry the Kaliums again to be able to provide a good comparison.

I've got a set of the reduced cores I'm gonna through on the combustion once these nickels are dead and give em a go. Very curious to try them.

There is short break-in period with them, so give em a few days before evaluating. They are not bad or anything initially, but I have noticed that when you put on a new set, at first they don't feel as good as the last set for some reason, and then a few days later, it's like, oh yeah, there it is!

I thought something similar with the SS Strings too. I'll be moving on to another set of the SS paysons on my Z soon (set #2 I think). I'll be paying close attention to this
