Hey guys I have one of these basses and I sometimes play it.

I also have a bass amplification system that stands on stage when I do.

We put tape on the floor so it seems more exciting when you see how dirty the rug is.

Although not as exciting as the guys we played with last Friday who had these all over the stage:

Although you can see their tape skillz weren't nearly as awesome as ours are.

I've been using it off and on. I'll probably use it at Funk this weekend but didn't use it at Westcott with JBB. It's a wild card because of how sensitive it is and how variant it can be depending on very tiny changes in what I feed it. The way it can really open up what could be damaging lows depending on when and what you hit it with, etc., I generally end up dialing in much more 'clean' signal than filtered signal to keep some consistency.

I envy your ability not to go all the way down the pedal rabbit hole.

All my recordings have been done with just my Dingwall's DI'd, no pedals, but all my jamming at home is with effects.

Most of my home practice time is unamplified. ;) But really we rehears twice a week and are doing 2-4 shows a week, so I'm only doing about an hour each morning anyway.

I really like the filter but I have to really dial it in at each use, because things like string condition change how it acts. I need to get some rubber O-rings for under the knobs too so I can lock in my control positions more solidly. That was a trick that B. Bodily dropped on me a while back.

To my knowledge, Dingwall has not delivered a 3X with 3 Ptones. If you were to retrofit one, the PUPs from Dingwall would most likely be marked N/B/N. However, if you were to order 3 for use in a 3X, maybe they would mark them N/M/B, I got 3 Ptones and I FDV to use interchangeably between my SJ5XXX and SPJ5, and the tech and sales guys knew that when they shipped them to me.

As per Sheldon, I am the first owner who is going to try a 3X with FD3/Ptone/Ptone, or an SPJ5 with P/Ptone or P/FDV.

I am only experimenting this way because no one else has shared if they've done it. I am trying to get a better solo tone from a bridge solo'd setting, or in the case of my 3X, a stronger middle PUP solo'd, if I keep it wired this way.

Hopefully, this makes sense to someone besides me?

I'll be very curious about this. 3X w/ 2 Ptones? I'd have put in P/FDV/FDV, though I wonder what P/FDV/SF2 would be like. I want to hear them all. I'm very curious about FDVs instead of FD3s.

But I tell ya. I'm curious to know what the SF2s sound like compared to the SFs? The super fats are really a beautiful pick up. While we are at make your own combo meal stage
I think I'd be curious to go P/Sf2x2 P/musicman with 2 position rotary switch. Lol. Keep it simple.

Agreed!

I have yet to find a bass the Alpha•Omega doesn't pair well with; it's definitely the thickest sounding and most versatile distortion that Darkglass offers.

P/FDV/FDV is what I have in my SJ: it sounds killer.

I definitely prefer the FDV's for the "MM" rotary setting, and the P Tone adds a nice grind and openness to the "J" setting.

I put an FDV in the bridge position of my SPJ5 and have spent very little time with it. My initial impression is that it has more "presence" and is slightly thicker in tone in the solo'd setting compared to the stock PUP. I'll have to wait to play it with the band to know for sure. If I do change it, it will be to try a Ptone, but I don't see myself going back to the stock PUP. So initially, :thumbsup:

NEW (to me) DINGWALL DAY!

I picked up a Combustion V4 to go with my NG-2...I think I maybe payed a bit more than I should have, but after cleaning it up, polishing the hardware and frets, putting in new batteries, and getting some new strings on it I'm quite happy with the purchase!

I'm digging into the V4 vs NG-2 differences now...can't say which one I prefer yet.
