mine just says afterburner....
In the chaos of moving to a new flat, I recorded a review of my new SJHope you guys like it!
Thanks! The bass came with Sansone 42-102 SS strings. They feel pretty good, but I want to give DW strings a try, I've been playing D'addario for ages and I think they're made by them as wellI actually just finished watching this. Very good work. Good playing also - you make it sound great! Half-way through viewing it, I began to wonder what strings you had on it. It was about the only detail you did not mention.![]()
Roberto Ainardi of Groovemania in Italy recommended me to try them. I just checked and the E string is not tapered.Oh wow! I knew they were making strings for long-scale Dingwalls, but did not know they make strings for the medium scale Dingwalls. Yours is the first recording I have heard of them - me likey. Is the E string tapered?
I could have sworn I ordered a set of DR Extra Long Black Beauties and the B started to taper between the nut and 1st fret... Let me see if I still have those when I get home and I can measure the winding length from the ball end. Maybe I ordered the wrong set.
I can confirm that the Sadowsky Extra Long work, and that the DR extra long do not. No experience with the others.
DR only makes one length Black Beauty set... Their "Long Scale" strings have a 38" winding which is considered Extra Long to manufacturers like D'Addario and GHS... We would need to have a longer B-string to fit the bass...
I had DR Black Beauties made to fit Short Scale instruments... Those I needed to make a full set... If there was enough interest I can make some "Dingwall Length" Low-B Black Beauty strings... The E A D G C DR "Long Scale" strings will fit the Dingwall appropriately...
Is there enough interest for a "Dingwall Length" Low-B Black Beauty? If so would you like it Tapered or Non?
I normally run a .145, as I go to drop-A fairly often. But, for mass appeal, you'll need a more common gauge I imagine. I'd vote .130.125 or .130?
.125 or .130?
.125 or .130?
I use a .136 with my drop A detuners, so .130 would be bare minimum.I never go larger then .130
But feel dropped to A a hair more tension would be nice. Can they do like a .132?
But definitely I'd say .130 at the min.
