So, my quest to identify the headstock of my old AB1 is nearing an end.
As most of you know who have a mid 2000 AB, the decal was not very robust, and prone to mostly coming off.

Sheldon sent a replacement decal from that era, but the glue was too old to be transferred. Thus, I was living with a "ghost" D on my headstock for the last while:

A friend with a 3D printer helped me out. His first attempt, he obviously got the scale wrong, but you can see the "ghost" D on the headstock.
This time, the scale is correct. Some sanding, buffing and paint will get me closer I think.

What do you guys think? Leave it nekkid, or proceed with a raised applique'?

I haven't read all the replies so apologies if this has been mentioned already, but Sheldon has said he travels with two basses in gig bags inside a golf bag case.

I've read that, but the issue is that that case becomes absolutely useless to me once I'm in the UK (there for at least a full year). Maybe if one is cheap enough...

Better to have a useless case than a useless bass. ( if it goes in the cargo hold in a gig bag) perspective.

Don't worry, I'm buying a seat for the instrument and I'm not flying United.

I've found a great candidate golf-club travel bag, that as long as my two bags fit the internal measurements, the airline says is A-OK with there being two bags in the bag.

I like it.
My old Afterburner necks had the same problem. At least on the maple headstock I could touch up the D with a Sharpie marker. Eventually, for other reasons, I bought newer necks with better D logos.

I went into Long &McQuade, Canada's largest chain, and exclusive Canadian distributors for Dingwall, to order one last week. They are in their catalog/website. I was told they can't get them, order them, or take deposits for them. I asked why they 'sell' them, and was given a shrug.
They suggested I order one from the States. Hmmm.......

It may have been the branch you went to. We have 3 in town but only one (the main one) deals in Dingwall. Same for a few other brands. Mesa, berg, etc.

Send Dingwall a message and get them to put you in contact with the appropriate local rep. The person you were talking to was obviously not " in the know"

I was fairly certain that was the case, and I'll call Bloor st. (main store) I tried to order a Dr. Z amp once, and got transferred to five different people before one knew that L&M IS the Canadian distributor for them.

Route out a D inlay. (I'm kidding, cause I'd be scared to death to do that.) Do you still have the decal that you might be able to re-glue it with new glue? Otherwise maybe make a stencil?

Markham store is the only Ontario distributor.

And the manager is a Bass player and they usually have the best (Highend) Bass stuff of any L&M I've ever been to (5 or 6 stores).
Mind you, I don't get to the TO one much these days.
