Dishonesty/Deception in band promotion

Seriously though; it was smart, no doubt, but shows a childish lack of regard for honesty and consequences. Too many "smart" people are actually stupid.
I'd throw him to the crowd, let them decide if it's funny or not.

Tell him to have his girlfriend wear a red wig and come to the show. If he doesn't have a girlfriend then have his mom do it.
Much ado about nothing. Certainly not a firing offense. Some folks are warning of the possibility of far-flung consequences; that's just the internet talking 
. If you think it's a big deal, tell him you don't want him to do it any more, then have your band focus on sounding good.

I also find this funny, and actually kinda smart if he's got your target market correct. I mean if you're the type of band who appeals to seedy people then you need to try and get seedy people to your gigs for a seedy time.
If you're trying to bring an element of class with your act, then he might be marketing you incorrectly. Perhaps invent a fictional wine and cheese event for the next out-of-town show.

It's a dumb move. Very amateurish at the very least. No offense, but if the band is any good, you will be able to develop a following without resorting to tactics such as this.
Also wrong. Family of Lawyers, A.D.A.'s, Court Clerks, Probation Officers, and Legal Secretaries.
Your interpretations of the court system may come from TV, mine come from the people who would do it to them. As a defense attorney family member has often said: most people's trouble with the law doesn't come from intentionally criminal behavior, most of it comes from sheer stupidity.
Oh get real. Nobody's going to sue or arrest a guy for posting a false ad where nobody really gets hurt. But as usual, the "Talkbass Fire Him Patrol" has to solve every tiny little problem by saying "fire him." Like good musicians grow on trees and you're all perfect. Get off your high horses and get a sense of humor.
I would love to be a fly on the wall at the family dinner where Major Softie, esq. tells everybody about the lecture he gave to some random bass player on the internet about fraud vis-a-vis this whole stupid scenario.
