All somewhat famous players and not ONE sticker.

So-o-o-o - the fame and sticker application theory is full of Bandini.

What about the cheesy "block" stickers people put on their necks?

Got that covered. Literally:

You would be amazed at how many people get a kick out of those number stickers. And at how many people have asked if I'd make them a set, even though they (and I) don't need numbers any more than I need dots.

Also, fwiw, I made every sticker on my bass.

You missed these, apparently:

Notice the scotch-taped set list above the 14th-17th frets? And of course, the BASSMAN sticker.

I don't usually put stickers on my basses, but last year I bought a sparkly silver Ibanez that was near-mint except for the fact that the previous owner had screwed a thumb rest next to the neck pickup. I have no idea why someone would do that to a 5-string (isn't that what the B is for?), and since I use the floating thumb technique anyway, I immediately removed it, filled the hole, and touched up the paint. Since the paint wasn't a perfect match and I could still see the repair, I put two tiny silver and pink skull stickers over the spots.

My cases, on the other hand, are covered with stickers.

I say go for it... Personally if i were to sticker a bass I would either cover the entire thing, Dont like the look of just a few stickers.. Or I would just cover the entire pickguard.. I think that could look pretty awesome if done right.

Look up sticker bomb kits

Yes,and no. IMHO,I think it depends on what type of music your're playing at your gigs. That is,if you do any gigging.

For instance,if you play in a country & western band,or if your're backing Miley Cyrus. It wouldn't be wise to bring a bass that's loaded down with skulls & crossbones, along with a stickers of Satan grabbin' his package and giving you the finger.

But,I would put a pink ribbon on mine if I was playing a breast cancer benefit. It has to suit the style of music you are playing, plain & simple.

My Fender Jazz Bass Special is L-O-A-D-E-D with stickers that I put on back in the mid-80's. Those will never, ever leave that bass. Way,way too many great memories with that fine steed. I'm as mature as a 45 year old man can get,but that bass STILL looks kick:bassist:ass to me. I STILL receive compliments on it's 'cool factor' to this day when I bring it out. I'll find some pics and post 'em.

Bottom line is,if it's done with some creativity, and taste? All should be well.

What does that sticker between your pups and your neck say?
