Since I started carrying a device that has a timer, alarm, flashlight, compass, calculator, music player, walkie-talkie, address book, internet connector, and timepiece, a watch seems redundant.

I wear a watch daily, including gigs. It has never been a problem as far as playing, with our without a watch.

Can’t stand watches, rings, any jewelry, on or off stage. Certainly don’t need a watch with cellphones.

I will admit, though, when I wear a watch during a gig, I also wear cargo shorts and sandals, and no one notices the watch.

Skagen makes super light, simple watches, cheap enough that I can have half a dozen. The ones with the silicon bands are really comfy. I wear it with the face at my wrist so I can check time without being obvious.

At home - no. Away from home - yes, every day since the early 80's, a stainless steel Seiko self winder, can't leave home without it. Especially for gigs, as I'm the time keeper (set timing, length of breaks, etc.). I'm a righty, it's on my left wrist, not even aware of it.

I had no issue wearing watches whilst playing bass, up until about 6 years ago.
I stopped wearing watches after I had an arterial fistula, dialysis point, grafted in my left wrist.
I tried wearing it on my right but the crown dug into my wrist causing skin cancer (BCC).
Can't wear watches now.

This is interesting.
I wear a watch everyday, but never while I play.
I guess I presumed that it would be uncomfortable for my fretting hand wrist while playing.
I'll have to try playing with it on.

I only take my watch off for one thing . . . it's a non-timed event.

I haven't worn a watch since I bought my first smart phone.

I bought a digital clock with a large and obnoxiously visible display and attached it to the center stage monitor where everyone in the band could see it.

Unfortunately, although everyone knew when to start breaks, virtually all needed to be reminded when it was time to start the next set.
