Does anybody in here play punk?

We cover some NOFX, some Ramones and some Bad Religion.. No Sex Pistol's.. I refuse to cover a band with probably the worst bass player of all time, such an overrated band.
After some conversing with some friends, i'll FINALLY be playing some heavier-end-of-the-spectrum punk again

I wish I could play straight punk, but I'm araid I'm just unable to grasp onto that raw feeling that goes with it. Every time I try to play punk, I end up getting so bored I noodle away, or play overly complex that it doesn't fit. Not to mention All too often I just stnd there, looking at my fretboard. Punk is just too PUNK for me
If you have time to noodle you're not playing fast enough.
Punk? You mean from like the late 70s, early 80s? You mean from like 30 years ago? Uh, no, man, we've moved on...
Are you saying there's no theatrics in punk? I'm sorry, but I reject the notion as much as you reject the "ludwig von crappy..."
I just started a punk band with my roommates, we were all looking for a side project and decided to start jamming. So far we're doing mainly covers- Misfits, Offspring (the old stuff), Fugazi, The Clash, etc... I love playing in punk bands, nothing better than being able to get on stage and focus on putting on an awesome show rather than having to focus on playing.
Back in the 80's / early 90's, I played in punk bands. One band made a cassette(back in the day). It has 9 songs, 16 minutes total length. One song was 23 seconds long.
I was in a couple when I was younger, and actually cared about not caring. (Husker Du meets Bad Brains with a little Descendents thrown in - that was our 'sound')

i'm in a hardcore punk band called clean break. i'd link you to the myspace but the recordings are outdated and don't sound too good haha
Green Day Killed Punk. And I'm not implying that they were punk either. One of my fondest memories was watching them get booed of stage after 1 song at 924 Gilman 
i used to play in various punk/thrash/hardcore bands, but i got tired of the music and all the narrow-mindedness.
The sex pistols killed punk rock, hare krishna killed hardcore and now mtv, the scene kids and hippsters are killing all the other stuff i listen to.

Punks not gone, it just changed. You can only be pissed off for so long, it tires you right out. But as long as their's bands like Bad Religion, NOFX, etc, still putting out new music, and touring, punks still here. It's just not what "your" punk was. I can't get into the new deathcore crap.. Not that i don't mind the music, i hate the scene, "Hardcore Fighting" kids throwing stupid kicks and punches in a mosh pit piss me off. But than again, maybe I look at them, the same way older punks would look at me 
Yeah, it's kinda weird to think.... there was less time between the Beatles breaking and the 'class of 77' than there has been since 1977 and now. Joe Strummer and most of the Ramones are dead.
i don't listen to much of the 70's stuff, i just meant that many punks are stuck in the past refusing to embrace any out side the box thinking, talking about sell outs and having rules and criteria that has to be followed in order to be a "true punk".
So following their logic punk died the day the sex pistols were signed, punk became commercial and now days there's guys in suits makeing a lot of money on punk rock.
I know that there's many punks that don't think this way but i just got fed up with all the rules enforced by a bunch of hypocrite douches in mohawks and 100 dollar jackets and boots.
