DR Strings Club?

I didn't know there was a DR club!! Great stuff, I'm in! I started using low riders and Marcus millers about 4 or 5 months ago and haven't looked back. I love the way both feel, play, sound and last. Awesome strings. I'll probably be a DR user for life now.

Roundwound string recommendation anyone? I have a U.S. Jazz which just had a set of dimarzio model j's installed and seems somewhat boomy now. I just installed my first ever set of dr's on a mim Pbass, nickel loriders, and love the grunt but they may be too much for the jazz with the new pickups. What string would offset the boomyness just a little? Was hoping to avoid ss strings as fret wear is a concern (should I not be?). How's the lows on the sunbeams vs the loriders? Going for vintage(ish) classic rock/r&b sound, no slapping. Thanks

Sunbeams are a brighter sounding string. The low riders may be a better bet for you. I use them all the time and they have very defined highs, lows and punch. As well as the Marcus miller sig set.

Thanks for the input gregmon, but my question was more in regards to offsetting the boomyness. So the sets of strings you mentioned will do this as well as being brighter? I was looking for a bit less defined punch in the lows.

Been using black beauties on my thumb 5 b/o 4 a while now n luv em n just put a set of neons on my dinky j 4. Full, lively sound n happy with em but the tech who did some repairs n set it up 4 me reckons that they attract ground buzz n I didn't believe him til he changed out the e string n sure nuf, the buzzing stopped when I touched all 4 strings with my fret hand but started up again if I didn't touch the non colored e string. Anyone know or heard of this? I'm happy with the string sound but the earth buzz is kinda noisy so any input? Thnx

Honestly I can't say I know about that buzz for sure but I swapped out my active EMG's in my P for some 60's fender reissues and I had the BB's on at the time and when I got them up and running I did notice quite the ground buzz happening that was relieved when I touched the strings with my hand. Now it could've been a grounding issue but I rechecked my work and everything was grounded just fine. I put the rotos I had on there before back on and changed the fender pups, not quite my taste, back out and put the EMG's back in. Not sure if that's what you were exp but I know I got some pretty noticeable buzz when I had the passive fenders in there that wasn't there when the EMG's were in my P with the BB's on it.
