I run medium/light Fat Beams on my '79 Thunderbird. Like Jamerson said, "the funk is in the funk" and I have 6 or more years on them. They sound terrific broken in/worn/old/stale/nasty however you like to view it.
Broke my new Roscoe in right with a fresh set of Black Beauties! But the A string was pretty dead out of the pack and the B string has a spot where the color has flaked off (right between the pickups). I love the sound and feel of DR's but sometimes I get bummed with the dead strings. Anthony at DR was supposed to send out a new A string this past monday, hopefully it will be here today for the weekend. I can deal with the color flaking, as much as I hate it

The coating on the strings is not conductive so you are not getting proper ground through the strings. Shielding the cavity unfortunatly will not help. buzzing goes away if you touch the bridge yes?Just put my first set of Black Beauties on my 2012 MM Sabre Classic. Ugh...horrible, horrible hum. Bass is pretty much unplayable at the moment. Will see if shielding the electronics cavity works. If not, off they come.

That's the nature of single coils and coated strings.Yes, the buzzing goes away if I tough the bridge or tuners. So, basically, nothing to be done other than remove them?![]()
