Dumb CL Ad's pt 5, Dumbester and Dumberest

First thing that comes to mind is to contact Parkway Music (since they touched it last, supposedly) and ask them about it. You could also run the serial number thru the interwebzez and see if it even comes close to what they say it is.

yeah, I never thought to contact Parkway, I know those guys, I'm guessing they are going to say it's "all that" though. Hopefully, they'll give me the straight scoop.
Is there a specific website to check serial numbers, not familiar with doing that?

I want to go check this bass out, it's not too far from me...what should I ask? The pups look odd to me, but I don't know.
I really like the idea of owning an older P bass but really don't know much about them...certainty don't want to get ripped off or pay too, too much for one.

This is all the ads says (they're asking a grand for it):

Hard to tell viewing the picture on my phone but those pups might be DiMarzio's a lot of players back then swapped the stock out for those. If they have the Allen head type magnet adjustment screws they would be DiMarzio. Only way to know the true date is from the serial# and the neck, body, pot dates. Bass looks decent in the picture though.

Good info, thanks, every little bit of knowledge helps.

BACK TO THE FUNNY ADS-

Here's a "headless stick bass".... not sure if that's prescription medication taped all over the bass, or antacid melts still in the package, or ???

Then there's this guy. Apparently, that Furman and 2-space rack are worth at least 1,000 freakin' bux if you use the current market value on Mesa M6 heads being around $500-$700 and the 212 around $400-$500. The dude's just a llllllllllittle too proud of his setup, I think. And check out the "will not sell separately, do not ask." Makes me want to contact him and ask, just to see if he can be more arrogant in a reply than in his ad.

Saw this on my phone, and almost followed up on it, since a p bass is on my bucket list:

Then checked it out on a bigger monitor...and I am stumped. When did Fender start writing Squire on the headstock of its MIM basses (pic 2)?

Just goes to show, Gasing on a computer > gassing on a phone.

Here's a drooling idiot. I would say foaming, but that's an insult to shaving cream:
