Dumb Salesman at GC

image.jpg

If I crack wise to someone and they obviously don’t get it, I immediately apologize for being a wise acre and explain that I have a weird sense of humour that only my wife gets it on a regular basis. Then I immediately make intelligent conversation to prove that I’m not really an idiot (full time anyway).

There have been a few moments in my life where somebody has said something so stupid to me it takes me an extra moment to process it, perhaps the GC employee was having one such moment.

I chose to think it was a stress response. Stress being the natural physiological reaction to the suppression of the urge to strangle another human being.

OP sounds like a stable genius with a very good brain.

Always interesting when people can't tell they're the butt of the joke (think about it, OP).

Can we petition for a separate forum for GC bashers and put it out in the distance, away from "humor" and "miscellaneous"? Or maybe treat it the way we treat "ugly bass" threads? I'm normally against censorship and suppression, but if any topic has run its course long ago and provides absolutely nothing of value, this has got to be it.

This. I too have a wry sense of humor. Many times it goes over great, we laugh, whatever. If it thuds, I explain I’m weird. But never am I mean spirited or think I’m above someone

In my previous life, I worked retail and I was guilty of that kind of behavior toward customers :(
It was at a department store, so it didn't hurt MY particular sales, and it always ended with a smile, when the other person figured out the joke and did not get offended... It didn't help that my department (Electric Avenue!!!), was located on the way to the restrooms...

Some gems from those days...
Customer: "Excuse me, do you have the time?"
Me: "Yes, but I'm not in the mood..."
...
Customer: "Excuse me, where is your bathroom?"
Me: "Right next to my bedroom!"

Had I been the salesman, I would have replied "What do you mean?". Some people think that admitting ignorance is bad, when, in fact, that's how we learn...
