Huh?

$15 a month, thats $180 a year.

As far as gears concerned, that would be.. A Squier Affinity every two years!

Now, i'd rather spend $15 a month and be able to call someone when my car breaks down, than have to hitch-hike home at 3am. Not to mention the convinience factor.

My friends sister took $300 from her mums purse and went to the store one morning to buy one, she was about 7 or 8 at the time.

Needless to say, I think she has only just being allowed to get one recently after that incident, and it would have been at least 5 years ago.

Speak for yourself. My Droid has GPS logging capabilities (ooop, Google knows where I'm at! Of course, I work for the government, so they already know, but...), puts a GPS stamp on pictures I take in the field, and as soon as I'm back in cell range I can email them to my PC so they're right there waiting for me to process later.

Then there's the ease of communication through text or email in places that have silent cell phone policies, such as libraries, my church, classrooms at college, etc. It also allows me to read the documents my boss sends me without having to rush back from the middle of the desert to my PC, and I can respond to her in a timely manner without resorting to T9 language.

Oh yeah, I can send and receive tweets with a few pokes of my finger (mainly used so my worship leader can keep me aprised of changes in the setlist, or rehearsal times). It substitutes as a GPS device while I'm driving, too, and it works better than the expensive device attached to my truck to let me know where I am at work. I'm pretty sure it's saved my life at least once when I was stuck in a wash with no clue where I was because the digital map of my area wasn't loaded into the massive GPS computer, but was available for download through Google Earth. I could have wandered around there for a week before being found. Speaking of which, thanks to Google Earth's mobile version I can view GPS logs to make sure I properly delineated the area I was logging before I shut it off, email the log, and call it a day.

I have a friend who runs his company's servers through an app he wrote for his iPhone, too. It means he doesn't have to run to work if something goes wrong at 4 am.

There's a reason these phones get made. Granted, most people won't use them for work, but plenty will.

I paid $100 for the Droid, and $100 a month for unlimited service. My last bass cost a lot more than that, as does most gear I'm intereseted in. Not being able to do my job because someone else requisitioned the gov't equipment for the month would cost a lot more.

If someone were to have activated my cell when I used to have one they'd either get a black pic of the inside of my pocket, a close up of my ear because, I'd be on it, or a shot of the ceiling or whatever was above me when I left it on the table/dresser, etc.

Everyone knows vintage cell phones are the way to go, the clay number pads are the mojo.

I got a high mass antenna and now my calls last 20% longer.

Boutique cell phones are clearly better, I can't even imagine being forced to use a production phone.

Analog phones just have so much more warmth and radiation.

Sure they are heavy and unwieldy, but tube phones are clearly superior to these new SS phones, forget Class D.

My cell phone bill is 38.40$ per month, my cell phone was free and i have had it a year and it still works, I was also given another free for when this one breaks. I have no home phone , no landline at all . So i think the 38.40$ is well worth it per month.

(38.40$)12=460.80$ per year, keeping me connected,allowing me to call on ads for craigs and get great deals on basses I could flip for more then that per year. Well worth it to me,to keep in touch and not become a hermit.

Let me guess you have cable? i dont . Why? any show i want to see I can watch online free.
