I don't think another few dozen of each pedal will change anything regarding 'exclusivity' - have you seen what these trade hands for 2ndary? Even the new stuff that Magic puts out, there are definitely flippers who list em right when they get em and they still sell. I loathe the practice, but it's hard not to notice. I'm just thankful to be able to check these pedals out without having to pay ransom. There are a few other surprises coming in 2021 from Magic that I think people are gonna get really excited about beyond what was mentioned. Looks like it is gonna be a solid year for pedals.

I know you were kidding, but kidding aside, the 'exclusivity' will still be there. Also, there are plenty of things from 20 years ago that were super niche back then that today sell for a stupid premium...everything from instruments to effects to non musical things. Nostalgia has a hefty price tag that usually is justified by people being 20 years further along in being able to make an income and looking to bring back some happiness from yesterday. I think it is a weird thing to "invest" in but there are people who flip stuff and make a tidy profit. I'm pretty anti the practice, but it can be effective if that's your bag.

As for cork sniffing and exclusivity, say what you will about it...but the number one thing that sells music gear is resale value. I saw something on social media not too long ago with a well respected musician and he explained why resale value is the number one most important thing about an instrument and it made a LOT of sense in theory and in practice when you looked at what sells vs what doesn't. Much like bourbon, it's all the same stuff and all you are really buying at the end of the day is marketing - a majority % of all bourbon comes from the LDI and a majority % of all pedals are rip offs of other circuits that can usually be had fairly cheaply if you don't mind shotty build quality/not made by hand type of stuff.

I didn't find Dunwich until he was done building and to be honest, I took a shot on Dunwich because I knew if I didn't gel with it, I'd be able to get my money back. I really dig the designs I've tried...they are excellent for both bass and guitar. I'll definitely be looking to try out more stuff from Dunwich / Magic in 2021.

Sounds good bro. Good post. You would have loved my Dunwich collection. I had a lot of one-offs. I'd say my favorite pedal was the Wizard Fuzz 125B. That's one I should have kept.

I hear a lot of good about the Wizard Fuzz, but it never really caught my attention, I guess in part due to lack of good demos. I'd imagine it's one I gotta play myself to really figure out. Very much looking forward to that one

The big box is pretty different from the 125 B. The 125B had this blend knob that really was excellent. Probably the best blend I've heard in a pedal. It really was implemented well. I had both the big box and the 125B. Big Box looked awesome, but lacked in the low end. The 125 B fixed that. Good luck finding one though. I think there were 10 total.

my two favorite fuzzeses that I've held onto are my 125b wizard and a small tb run of an EA supercollider.

I'd LOVE to find a smaller version of the DA-120. Nick posted something on social media the other day and had one. It kinda looked like he had the regular massive green enclosure and just cut it in half and moved the knobs around. If you open that beast up, there is a ton of wasted space. I'd love that in a smaller box. It's massive size matches the tones it puts out. Such a killer sound.

Nick posted a snippet of his blend circuit here in the thread a long time ago, it's very cool IMO, and I'm grateful he shared it. Helped me better understand other blend circuits I've seen. I'm hoping to integrate Nick's blend into a few of my own amateur-builds some day.

I'm with cosmicevan on the shoddy practice of flipping by flippin' flippers: It's the flippity-flip-flip's pedal, entitled to do what he/she want with it, but if at all possible I won't knowingly buy a pedal from a flipper — and that's MY entitlement.

TBOMK, out of all the pedals I've bought used, none were bought from F'flippers.


My Mantic bought from Somnambulance doesn't count, 'cause he's a bonafide pedal junky and just wants to try everything, he used to flip a lot of pedals but never flipping bootiki-pedals to profit off of other people who weren't able to get in on a small-run etc.
Spaceman pedals, now there's fertile fields for the F'in flippity-fleep-fleeps. I've got no qualms with pedal-junkies flipping, as they tend to either A) sell for what they bought it for or B) Take a loss.

Either way, pedal-enthusiast-flippers take a hit with all the shipping charges, but that's gotta be factored into the price of privilege to try out pedals. I look at it like a rental price or experience price. You watch a movie in the cinema, you pay for the experience... Cinemas — for all you kids out there, a Cinema's a place where your parents had to go to watch a movie, 'cause there was no such thing as Internet let alone online streaming ...

Didn't know there was a TB Supercollider? What's different? I LOVE my Supercollider '71 on guitar, but haven't seen one of those pop up in years.

Who knew Nick would close up shop so suddenly? I had sold most of my collection of his stuff a few weeks before he announced his retirement. I kicked myself in the ass a little for selling all my Dunwich pedals when I did (except the one I sold to you. By that time I was ok with it). The only one I really regret getting rid of though besides the WF125B was the Witchfinder. Honestly, I thought that pedal looked a lot better than it sounded, but out of all his offerings I think that's the one that's gonna be the one to have in the future. Mainly for its cool graphic. I wonder what old Dunwich pedals are actually pulling in. Reverb sucks in that you can't see what something actually sold for.

Im not sure it was tb exclusive. I just remember signing up through a tb thread some 13ish years ago. It's a bit smaller than a 125b and is tuned a bit lower for bass. I haven't seen another in a long while tbh. I compared it to his recent version (which is great) and that assessment holds up.

I had a bluebeard and pickle pie b at the time and this beat them both out for me. Its similar and different enough for me to keep the Wizard.

Right. Now I remember. The first run of the WF 125 B were textured and the second were glossy. I had a couple of the VT 125B's. Just never really gelled with them though. Sold my big box VT to Matt Dean recently.

Not True. The OG VT is much more renowned for keeping more low end retention than its 125 counterpart. Still a great pedal, much sizzle. Just might need a little help with a blender or something.
