Ed Roman Lowrider?

That does say something. Even though it is simply one city in the whole country. i would gather that there are very few Status playes in Vegas and you couldn't pay me to play a Celinder or Sadowsky over a Status, I don't feel that they are even close to being in the same leauge, so go figure. All I can say is that I have an associate who lusts after a boutique "
J Style" bass and she is no fan of graphite. The Lowrider based on what I have seen seemed like a decent bass for the $$$$$$$$. Again, I could be wrong.

They do look a lot like the KSD Protos's which i handle as well and think are a great bang for the buck. What is their price and where are they made, anyhow.. i mean , just for info..? ( i know, i should use search)

Talk to Brian at Low end about that one. He is the distributor and ed Roman is an authourised dealer. this seems to me of a classic example of looking for problems when there aren't any.

From what I gather they start at about $1200.00. They are built in house there in Vegas and seem to be a pretty good deal seeing how a Sadowsky will cost over $3K and everyone knows how I feel about that Anyway, I don't know how popular they are but that isn't the question.

I've been on Talkbass for a while. I cannot recall a single thread or post regarding anybody owning a Lowrider.

I would postulate that if it was a good or great bass somebody would have commented about it somewhere such as "Hey check out my new Lowrider!", etc. Granted I haven't hit the "search" button to confim this but it's my recollection.

I understand your question. Apparently no one can answer it. No one has played one on the forum, at least , they have not surfaced.
I was very apprehensive about participating in this thread. Nothing more I can add unless i happen to get a chance to play one.

Thanks for telling me something I didn't know. Sorry if I am looking for posts based on the validity of the instrument instead of a pissing contest. I am sorry that I outgrown that type of High School "he said-she said" mentality.

It seems to me that the validity of the instrument is not just based on the peice itself, but the follow through afterwards. Seeing this guys responses at harmony central gives the peice no validity as far as I am concerned. And as far as I am concerned about a pissing contest, are you his brothers keeper or something? I mean, you're always the first one to go nuts on Sadowsky, and now you defend this guy? At least sadowsky is what it is said to be. maybe I read this wrong, but seems to me you're a bit hypocritical, no?

Me personally, I consider it disrespectful to walk into a store (especially one that is NOT a chain store) and beat on all the gear with no intention of buying. If I think I might want to buy a bass or amp, I'll certainly do it, even if it is only in my sights for down the road. But I'd never play "all the instruments at my leisure". That's just me. If I owned a small mom&pop store, I wouldn't want my inventory of goods to be manhandled like it was K-Mart.

I'm not defending Roman by any means, he sounds like a real turd muffin. But I also avoid many music stores because everything there is scratched and bruised by all the kids who want to go there and use it as a playground.

Anyway, I could care less if Ed Roman is an a$$hole or a saint. This wasne't a "what do you think of Ed Roman" thread. It wasen't because I really don't care about personal opinions of the man. I was wondering about the quality of the product, nothing more or less.

Well, if you buy an instrument from a person that seems like dishonest, imagine what's going to happen when you run into a problem & need some customer service.

Personally, I wouln't buy a bass from him based soley on his reputation, I could care less it it was the best bass I've ever played. He dosen't stand behind his products. If he carrys a product, it's awesome, if he loses the dealership, the item blows.

Lets wait a while & when he & his supplier for his basses disagree, he'll bash them too.

if you are willing to make your judgement based on the "opinons" of of faceless masses that post on H/C than sop be it. Me, I am a bit more evolved than that. If I made the trip to Las Vegas and I was treated rudley would I still buy? Hell no! Will I let a few bad reviews on a internet portal disuade me? hell no. I bought my Marantz SR 8000 and my Nakamichi even though both models received less than satisfactory reviews on Epinions. Guess what? Both smoke ass!

As far as Sadowsky goes I could really care less. All I said was that I find it laughable when someone would pay $3K plus or a bass that they could pay to have put together for 1/3 the price. If you hate that viewpoint so be it,

I've read alot more positive reviews from Sadowsky owners than LowRiders.

I've read alot more negative reviews about Sadowsky basses than I've seen + or - from Lowriders.

I find that laughable.

I would like to say that I appreciate Adrian Garcia participating in this thread because he was able to shed a bit of light on this situation. It seems that these basses of Mr. Roman haven't really made an impact yet and given what I have heard, they probably aren't worth pursuing at this time. To put things in perspective, Mike Lull and Roger Sadowsky built reputations in their communities before they developed a broader profile, if Roman's basses and service is good, they will do the same over time. Since there is no shortage of quality Fender style basses in all price ranges, holding off on this one brand is no real loss.

IMHO Mike Lull's bass are dog$hit. I would rather own a BSX from Rondo music than a Mike Lull dog. In fact I would say that the worst bass I have ever played was a Mike Lull and I am shocked that they are still in biz, let alone selling what they sell for. Hell, Hellen Keller would have said the Mike Lull basses that i had the chance to play were dog $hit. Now, would you take my opinion as gospel, even though it is just my true experiance?

Whatever...it's a free country...you're entitled to your opinion and you're more evolved than the rest of us. But you know what they say, a smart man learns from his mistakes, a wise man learns from others mistakes. You knock sadowsky but you defend this charlatan? where there is smoke......
