Eden Forum Disappears

BTW, don't forget to close the not used 1/4" sockets on the dish. They create a funny noise when open.
There were plugs delivered from Eden with the cabs.
If you don't have those just use some foam ear plugs.
Rock on!
Yeah those 1/4" connectors on the backplate can make some weird noises and whistling if they aren't plugged because the cabs can push a lot of air out of them. Those "roll-up and put in your ear" type of ear plugs seal them up and stop that from happening quite effectively.

That sucks man!
I just realized.
Hey, can you give me an update on when the EX110/CX110 or EX112 gets back in stock?
There's only few sites selling them. Can't even find one on the second hand market.
Also how does CX/EX cabs sound compared to the TN cabs?

PS: Same for DNA, forums also seem offline over there.

Well nuts, if the EX112's are gone, there aren't any more being made. The CX cabs were much earlier cabs and not to be confused with the EX cabs. Power handling was 200-watts for the 10" and 250-watts for the 12" and they used the banana connectors. The were specifically made for adding on to gold-face CXC combos that Eden made in the earlier 2000's. They have a coaxial speaker, which has a voice coil for each cone and the tweeter cone is hidden behind the dust cover. The EX112 handling power is 300-watts for the EX 112 and they have a single 1/4" jack on them instead of banana or speakon.

The TN version cabs are a little bigger. The 112 has the same whizzer cone as the EX but also has a separate horn. Sound "might" be a little better than the EX, but the EX had such an amazingly good sound that I immediately bought a second one. Since the Eden forum is gone I no longer have my go-to contact with Eden although if to be honest, Armin was the one who got in touch with them most of the time.

Yeah the DNA forum just shows an error when you try to visit it now and it's been that way for at least a month. It's returning a SQL server error with the suggestion you contact the administrator. I'm not a moderator on it and I don't know who runs that, so I'm no better off than you are. Armin is/was the moderator but I don't know if he's contacted them.

Hey.... I just checked three online stores including Amazon and they all had the EX-112 in stock and all at the same price of $269.

I'm still waiting on the D210XLT cab to come back from a 2nd visit to the tech.

I will be trying the earplug "patch" to see if that helps.

As for the BP102s instead for something mo0re correct for the cab, the GC store manager has really been very gracious considering all the other issues I've had trying to get a decent Eden cab in the store. Granted the a holes at certain GC stores are cons and tell you everything is great when you call them up and ask about the ACTUAL condition of the cab in question. The GC store manager in my town has 3 or 4 cabs that I got from other stores that were were crap - blown speakers or broken cabs. It took me 2 tries on the D410XLT and both had issues. The first one had 2 or 3 bad speaker but a good cabinet. The 2nd D410XLT had good Eden speakers but a busted cab where the casters are in front. I had planned on putting casters on that cab ( since it's not even close to a one man carry ) but when I saw the damage at the front bottom of the port, the plywood was broken and the only thing holding it together was the rat fur. The GC store manager was kind enough to swap the good speakers into the the other D410XLT that had a good cab ( he got the wiring wrong but at least he told me that he wasn't sure and I took a look and fixed it ( Eden D410XLTs parallel connect 2 sets of 8 ohm 10'' speakers and then series connect the 2 pairs of 10" speakers for the 8 ohm total impedance ). It's been a champ at my house since and my main cab now. Then I tried for the 1st D210XLT. Some other GC store shipped a D210T. I tried it out and it sounded OK until you got on the B string. So this GC store manager took it back ( I think he sols it too ). I then thought, well, might as well go for broke and get a "new" blem D210XST. When that came in at least 1 speaker was blown and the damage to the cab was more then a blem. Again, this GC store manager ate it and i went to look for some other 2X10. The ONLY "good the first time it came in" Eden cab I got was a D115XL. It was a great price and NOTHING wrong with it. Very happy with that - what a thumper! My latest try was the recent 2nd try at another D210XLT...and you know that history. Considering that even though several other GC stores were cons, I feel that this GC store has done his best to keep me happy and I don't want to run this store out of business making too much of a fuss.

I will most likely take the D210XLT with the Eminence BP102s and pull those speakers out and sell them or something. I have found a local person to recone for a bout $100/ea. However, when I was comparing the Eden EC1060XL8 ( from the D410XLT cab ) to the blown Eminence built EC1060XL4, I noticed one major difference...the spiders are very different. The Eden spider is taller then the Eminence spider. How do I make sure the person doing the recone will order the right recone kit? I was looking at Speaker Exchange and Simply Speakers. The Simply Speakers kit appears to have the tall spider. The Speaker Exchange pictures a kit with 2 different spiders but I can't tell if if either one is correct for the Eminence built EC1060XL4. Does anyone got an insight to where I can order ( or tell the shop doing the recone ) which recone kit to get and from where?

WOW! Hard to believe GC took those cabs in 'with issues'...Where are you located? This could get complicated....honestly, im not sure what i would do besides contact several reconers.....i am considering re-coning some old Jensens myself to save money but these are widely re-coned so many parts to choose from...you might contact Weber speakers...it must be done correctly...maybe place a wtb ad here at Talk Bass as well.

How do the BP102s sound?

For all I know, those stores took those cabs in and they were in good condition and then you get some clowns come in and crank on them to blow them up for a lark. The D410XLT and the D210XST did not look bad. It's only when you played through them that you knew things weren't right. Of course, then when you call those stores where you got them from ( I had them shipped to my local GC in Wichita, KS - I do that to remove any doubt that I may have damaged them since they unpack it in the store ), they have an excuse that they didn't know...blah, blah, blah. However, the 2nd D210XLT - my lord, one cone was ripped from the surround and the coil came unwound in the gap; the other speaker is sticky but not a bad as the first. BOTH had imprints from the back of the grill in the dust caps!. There was no way in hell that they DID NOT know. They tried to put it on me but I told them that it was shipped directly to the GC store and they unboxed it there.

I've had BP102 speaker in a Peavey 410TVX cab before. They have good bottom but they roll off fast above 2k and sound very muffled and boomy. When I had the Peavey cabs I thought they sounded decent...lol...but that's just because I hadn't heard anything better that I played through. As soon as I got to play through the D410XLT, it was like I got my ears cleaned out or fixed or something. All that clarity everywhere. MY wife gets to listen on the 1st floor when I'm in the basement and she definitely hears the difference and likes it better.

I do need to find out more about what recone kits have the spider that works for the Eminence built EC1060XL4 before I take them to the shop to recone. I don't think he's done any Eden speakers and I'd rather not pay for parts and labor on a recone kit that doesn't work. What I looked at was about $50 to $55 per kit and the tech said he'd charge about $50 in labor per speaker. So it will run $100 a speaker but this way I know I got a speaker that is designed for this cab.

On that note...has anyone noticed that the ports on the D210XLT are 2 different lengths? The top port goes almost to the back of the cab. However, the bottom port goes all the way to the back and then almost half way up the back of the cab. Ingenious! The ports on the D410XLT both just go to almost the back of the cab.

Paging @Bassmann1968. Hey Armin, do you have any suggestion to offer on this?

With all your trials and tribulations I have to ask: is GC your only option? They stopped getting my business long ago.

Wow, that sucks! The Eden Nemesis line of amps is definitely one of my favorites! I had a NA-320 that I had to sell because it didn't have enough power. I now have an RS-400 that I don't ever plan to get rid of. I never did get into the WT series though and their cabs were all heavy as frigg, but dang, my Nemesis RS-400 sounds so sweet through my Markbass cab! Don't tell MB, but I think I prefer it to my MB Tube 800 head.

In a way, yes. There are smaller mom and pop guitar places. I tried to support them but a couple got boutique like and only carried certain brands of high end stuff and it was mostly for guitar related equipment. When they do, it's usually just Fender and Gibson. I've never seen most of the cool bass gear - Sadowskys, DNA, etc. let alone got to try them. No one in Wichita, KS ever carried Eden in stock, including GC. The "other" place I used to visit was a the Peavey dealer. They helped me plenty when I was buying Peavey cabs but we all know that dried up. The Peavey place did get some nice used stuff every now and then but that slowed down too. Most of the rest of the music stores were for keyboards and band instruments.

When I traveled for work, I'd visit whatever I could kind and found some really cool places ( one store in Michigan had sooo much of everything I didn't have time to check it all out. Their pedal selection was out of this world - stuff I've never seen before ). It was hard not to drool. I'd also visit the local GCs and I have learned that the GC in Wichita is more of an exception then the rule.

So, even though s**t happens at GC I know that it's not directly their fault and I do get to see a much larger variety of gear ( mostly used ) than I would see any where else in Wichita, KS. There are people in Wichita who are some avid guitar collectors and more often than not, those folks will come in and dump a dozen or so wonderful pieces ( from affordable to waaay out of my price range gear ) and I get to see them, touch them and try them out.

Still waiting on the re-fix of the D210XLT that a tech put in 2 Eminence BP-102s in. The tech agreed that there was something wrong and found that one of the BP-102s was defective. Waiting on a replacement.

Something tells me the 2x10s may be more prone to 'issues' than 4x10's.. possibly.

Honestly i dont use my Eden Metro 2x10 cabinet...its heavy, hard to move around and i prefer a pair of EV15L in a pair of TL-606 cabs stacked for the time being, plus i sit the Metro (now in a head cabinet) on top of the stack of EV15Ls so i dont have to bend down as much (the old body aint what it used to be).

I'm guessing that too. Easier to blow a 350W cab than a 700W cab. Except, of course, that 500W D210XST that sounded blown. At least the speakers weren't ripped or hung up but they didn't sound right.

Some players are almost deaf or working on it. I remember playing a benefit deal will multi bands and we were the first ones up. Of course, that meant everyone got to use the bass rig and the drums ( I was much younger and new to the scene and didn't know that ). I had two Peavey cabs ( 4X10 and 1X15 ) with an SWR900 head bridged to mono. There's always that one jerk who has to crank on your stuff and at the end of the show I had a blown 10" and tweeter. That was the last time I volunteered for that kind of set up.

I do understand about what I used to be able to do and what I can do these days. I used to be able to carry an 80 to 85 lb cab by myself. The best I can do now is a 60-70 lb cab. I certainly need help with the Eden D410XLT ( at 98 lbs plus the weight of the casters under it ). The kids have all moved out and the wife won't help me any more...Ha!

The light stuff usually has a heavy price tag. Since I'm not playing that many gigs and none pay well, I keep my eye on the used stuff and that usually also means heavy as well. Except for bass tube amps...they are heavy AND expensive...even when they are used. I do enjoy scarfing up used PA amps, the older ones with the toroid transformers and the rows of heat sinks and power transistors. To me, when you pop the lid, it's almost a work of art :-).

Btw, i was recently searching GC in Kansas City and im pretty sure one of the stores had an Eden cabinet.

Lol...I've seen that cab. KC is a 3.5 hour drive away. If you look at the pic, 2 of the speakers have been replaced. I'm guessing they are not as good as the Edens that were there.

Now, until recently, there was a decent looking D212XST that looked good and was going for about 490.00 used.

If it was still there after the 1st of the year i was gonna get serious about it ( it's gone now )

You may also notice that there is a D210XST from Williston, VT that looks sharp for 499.99. However when you read the fine print, at least 1 speaker is blown. When I called they told me they have to get 330.00 out of it as is.

There look to be several nice heads ( a WT800 old and new ) and a power amp ( like the one in your rack for the "Tower of Twelves" ).

I do have a question though...do 2 of your single 12" cabs sound similar to the D212XST? I like the idea of the smaller cabs, similar to doing 2 210s instead of 1 410.
