Eden WT400 repair/mod

What Eden WT do you rock?

WT-400 I bought ca. '97. Factory modded it with a pre/post switch on the DI and I had them do the "low noise" mod (reversed the fan among other things) at the same time. Have wanted to do the Speakon mod but beyond my tools, experience, and time. Plus I haven't gigged steadily in years, so haven't pursued it.
I'm aware of the pre/post mod but I didnt tackle it here. Maybe I should do it down the road and have some photos to share.

I've heard of the fan reversal but need to look into it closer and if it only applies to certain years.

When properly terminated with the correct wire, the .100” and .156” connectors are very reliable. There are specific wire specs that are necessary and when not followed cause issues. Same applies to the tooling.
My WT-500 has had frustrating intermittent issues with the various internal connections. I suspect bad physical contact where the insulation is displaced on the wires and possible oxidization on the contacts as the reason; ended up directly soldering a few of the connections to the power amp modules and the problems went away. Also installed Speakon connectors, reversed the fan, upgraded the zener supply resistors, ADA4627-1 op amps, added pre-EQ out, and much more....

Properly assembled, the connectors IDC connections are gas tight. There are some who do not follow the necessary requirements, that is not the fault of the connectors or the process.

I have experience with millions of such connections and VERY rarely see issues.

In practice, I found the IDCs to be unreliable in the Eden amps, certainly much less reliable than a soldered connection. It may have something to do with the amp and connections being moved around quite a bit over the decades. The 1/4" jacks used for the effects return are also a known failure point on these amps: a tiny amount of DeoxIT on the internal contacts usually fixes this.

That's not an IDC problem, because there are plenty of amps where IDC connectors are used with no problems over decades of use.

Probably because they were cleaned improperly, or with the wrong substance, accelerating the damage. Once they are ruined, cleaning won't (obviously) help because the problem is the damage done to the pots. Just my experience from 40 years of analyzing failed components.

I have had the amp serviced twice.
I myself just turn them a few times.
I live in Sarasota Florida now anyone know a good person ?
Really like the amp and use it daily.
It works fine except for dirty pots.
Sure it needs some updates and things checked.
Also use a 700rb the eden sounds sweeter imo.
