ZOIA is my desert island pedal. It can do everything, and a lot of that everything can be done exceptionally well. I would also bet the people at Empress would air drop you spare parts regardless of how remote that desert island was.

Something whirly, like a flanger or phase shifter and an envelope filter. Your choice on the brands.
Back in the day, budget didn't permit it, but I'd have loved to experiment with any of the Yamaha REV's or SPX's.
While I'm not a big effects guy, I do like a good chorus and reverb, though I've never quite mastered exactly how to reverb bass. Back in the day, my fave chorus after the CE1 was a BOSS BF2 flanger, which set low and slow with little feedback makes one hell of a bass chorus.

I have a bit of an excessive pedalboard which has stereo effects for half of it, beyond the more tone shaping/dynamics control pedals (the range of compressors I have gone through is another matter) I really like harmonic tremolo. Currently using a Jam Harmonious Monk, although the Walrus Monument gets swapped in sometimes. Just putting it on with a little bit of depth and slow movement really brings a bass sound alive when you want to fill up the sound a little without resorting to a driven sound.
Other favourites are the Supro stereo chorus (usually set more heavily effect-y), Dreadbox Raindrops Delay, Poly Verbs.
I also like building up a sound texture using Octave, bit crusher, filter and then either the chorus or trem, mix it in with some delay and reverb and it can be a whole accompaniment in itself.

I've been thru so many. And I hated the CS-3. Noisy and thin. Ok on guitar tho.
Once I'd figured out my sound (took a few years) I settled on FTT Black Vehicle, Big Muff (a good Tallfont) thru an always on SVT-type preamp & comp.

SP Compressor is the only one I just couldn't live without. With so many basses with wildly differing outputs, it really allows quick sound contouring.
Strymon BigSky Reverb stays on and I just love the tone it gives to each bass;
My Sansamp PBDDI is always on if I remember to bring my board. I keep three channels set with varying amounts of Drive and Presence, from clean(ish) to SVT-style grind. It helps me cover a lot of ground in our set which ranges from 60s - contemporary rock, blues, roots and Americana.
Currently, it's my new ToneDexter II which is creating a bit of a revolution in my upright tone on stage.

It might be stretching it to call it an effect, but the Sushi Box Finally tube DI is a great piece.
Warm overall tonal character plus anything from gentle breakup to all-out dirty when you play with the gain knob. And you can bypass the tube stage to use it as a standard DI.

Toss up between the Sushi Finally and the Line 6 HX One. The Finally has DI, tube mojo with none to light to heavy breakup, and a HPF. The HX One is any effect I want that stompbox to be at anytime. And the effects are all really good, at least the ones I use. I am not an expert on delays/reverbs/modulations.
I have several utility pedals on my board but the only "effect" I use is overdrives. I love a nice low gain overdrive. Why? They fit my band's classic rock and blues playlist.

For bass, I keep going back to the Wampler Ego Mini compressor. Whether it's being used on live sound or for recording, with me on bass or somebody else, this thing just turns the bass signal into something punchy, nice-sounding and mix-friendly, without destroying the core tone. I have a bunch of other compressors, and they can get great results too, and can be more versatile for sure, but this one just always works without any fiddling.
On guitar, I am absolutely loving the Fender Tone Master Pro multifx. I'm a big fan of analog pedals and tube amps, but this pedal is just great. Sounds awesome, really intuitive UI and workflow, and lots of practical features for gigging.
