Effects-- what's your fave and why?

What gives you the impression that so many effects are pointless?

Don't indulge them. They're trying to be provocative while skirting the Effects Forum rule:

5. Posting anything in this forum phrased in a manner that could be construed as insulting the use of effects in general by bassists will henceforth be considered trolling, and will be dealt with accordingly.

Obvious troll is obvious. Just leave them be.

Great EQ, great drive.

When not using the HX Stomp and going straight into my H&K Quantum QC415 combo, at the moment it's only the "antique" Boss GE-10 that I bought used decades ago for 10 bucks. I'm using it mainly for working around the built-in EQ limitations of the QC415.

I do have a Boss CS-3 since mid-1980s and it's great for guitars, but it never sounded right for me with the bass. So eventually I got the Boss LM-2B – which I was using a lot at first while I decided to make the full switch from a guitarist to a bassist – until I learned how to tame my fingers, that is… :)
I've also used the Boss TW-1; I have two of them that I bought used in the 1990s. Each sounds slightly differently, albeit both a bit too thin with the bass. But I do like to play some p-funky bass lines every now and then.
And a Boss OC-2 which I also bought used in the 1990s, actually for guitar, but I've been using it for a couple of bass projects as well.
All these have become somewhat redundant with the HX Stomp…

This was my issue.... Any feedback is welcome

I tried pedals - I tried an Envolope Filter - The effect was highly dependent upon my bass, outputs and what my other pedals were set at especailly compressor- So to Dial in the perfect sound was a Pain.
OH - Also highly dependent on Room and volumes... If I'm playing quiet for a song then later it's much louder I would Never Be ab;e to Dial in that Filter on the fly.

On to the compressor - Is it working? Always adjusting and trying to get the Highs even, I GUESS.... Chorus, Fuzz... Same Same same
NOW - Bought an HX STOMP.... So when I play a PRESET sound like from Ian Martin

The Compressor and the Filter and any other Fuzz or Octave or Drive already are set for me!!!!!!!!!
So far I like his IMA Settings.
Selling all my Pedals now - Can't figure it out how to blend it all....and I surely can't figure out how a Guitar player with a Crazy predal board would adjust each song. I guess he would have a few settings.

Nice now that I can play a song and add a little chorus or Drive or anything to jazz up the end or a crazy Jam lol

Jbybi, that really sounds like the ticket. But, what kind of rev device would have tone control to minus the 500hz range? I could see doing it at the amp, but there goes the bottom.

Thanks !
I would guess there are others but I use Helix for all my verb and delay. So I guess HX One would be the smallest and cheapest of that route. And yes, the 500hz HPF is only for the feed to the verb, the dry signal is full range.
