Epifani is gaining weight...

Epifani can put on all the weight it wants.

I'm picking up a Berg next week and this over the weekend.

+1...Like I mentioned, both cabs have pros and cons for me and by that I'm talking about tone. They are a tonal toss-up for me, while both being WAAAYYY ahead of any other cab I would consider. In addition to tone, the Berg had the advantage of being more shallow (which is a huge plus because I'm pretty sure it would fit in my trunk) and the Epi had the advantage of being lighter (which is a small plus - they are both light.) This news has eliminated that small plus Epi had in one category. I just need to hear them side by side again to confirm my thoughts of them being a tonal toss-up. (And by that, I'm not saying they sound alike, but that I like them equally as much.) For others, they may have strong preferance one way or the other based on tone though.

An 810 stack is a monster any way you look at it! With all this talk about cabinet weight my curiosity got the best of me. I bought my Epi UL-410(II) from Music123 last October. When I put it on the scale it weighed 58 pounds. Double checked the scale with some barbell plates to make sure it was accurate - it was. I'd like to take the Berg AE410 for a test drive some time but I really like the low end my UL-410 pumps out. Two different flavors of excellent. :smug:

One cab isn't mine. I just have it for a little while. Trust me, I'll NEVER EVER need that much oomph... EVER. :)

That said, I do plan on posting pics in the main Epi (seen the light) thread. :)

Awesome stack Vic !

I've considered these cabs and read about them on the Epifani site, but had I ordered one and rec'd an extra 9 lbs I'd be pretty choked.

When carrying things, it's as much about size than weight. It's as much about avoiding injury as dealing with injuries. I regularly work out with 40-lb bells, and I can easily one-hand my regular cab that weighs over 60 lbs (and I agree with those that say there's a threshold around that weight for comfortable carries), and I have a great hand cart, but if it ain't for a weight savings - which I've gladly paid for - then I can make any decent cab sound good enough for me in a live stage mix so these hold no relative appeal.

Same with amps - I can make almost any functional amp work for me but I'll gladly pay for better construction, less noise, and above all less size/weight.

I see it as at least as "manly" to be able to afford to pay the freight for the convenience than to house/carry bulk that doesn't benefit me.
