I think it's great the QII works so well for you. It's an unbelievable deal on some top quality stuff! In some ways I'm happy it didn't work out for me, but sad in other ways. Oh well, I really can't complain about any of my stuff, so it's ok. :)

Verizon DSL is a piece of work but I didn't want to change my email address.

Me, I'm a self-professed preamp junkie. I do like my heads and in most cases fill the bill for most any playing that I do. It's nice to carry one rack bag for the plug 'n play. But the preamps just give me lots of flavors with far more power than would be needed. They satisfy the jones and I'm spoiled. And this preamp adds to the fun as it is different enough to be a keeper.

Hunh--I LIKE the ears. Guess I'm in a minority. If I had an F1-X and the QII, I'd def drop the Nav and reclaim the $$$.

A different thread all together but I think that would be great if he did. I'm sure it would be a piece of cake for him to do.

Maybe I'll start a new thread after I do a search to see if one's been done.

Yeah, I was hoping that the ears would integrate better with the front. I don't think it would be that hard to make them look a little more seamless. What do you think?

I know it probably wouldn't look as smooth as this but I think it would be possible. Just a thought. They work fine the way they are.

Also, not to nitpick here but I was under the impression that the big yellow "E" logo on the left was milled out of the face and then painted in. The logo on my preamp looks simply silk-screened on. It looks like it will hold fine for now but I remember when I first visited the shop and gave a 502 a test drive the logo was machined and added to the 'tank-ness' of it. Again, not a big deal since I saved like $1000!

I take issue with the savings concept. Yeah, I bought one at the reduced price, but IMO, it's about a 500 dollar pre anyway, just like an F1X or a Nav, or other run of the mill pre. The $1499 retail, $1049 street price was a bit inflated. Maybe Epifani wanted it (and all of their products) to stand out from the crowd.... mission accomplished. I wonder how many bought it at $1499/$1049. At this price point, it's about right. Especailly when you consider that you have to buy the rack ears and foot switch. It's not like and STT-1 or Manley Vox Box. Maybe it was meant to be one of those super duper studio boxes for bass, but the Epifani folks have acknowledged that they're going back to the drawing board for that product. I don't know.... when I look at all the pre's I've had before, all of them used, and what I paid for them, between $400 and $550 depending on condition and age... this one brand spanking new at $499 was a good buy. Maybe an initial retail price of say $750 to $800 like a new Nav or F1X or Demeter HPB.... but $1499??? :eyebrow:

Maybe a one space pre with only one eq channel would be the product I'm thinking of.....

What's with the Epifani / Aguilar trend with the blue power indicator lights? They look cool as hades, really bright, but do I detect a new trend that other's might follow? Remember the Avalon U5's that everyone was spiking over that had the blue lights??? Blue.... I'm starting to see a pattern here!!!!

I agree. I find this to be a good deal for what I paid for it. I certainly wasn't dying to buy it when it cost $1499/1049. I also agree that for what they were asking for it, the footswitch and ears should've come with the package standard. But at this reduced price, I feel silly nitpicking about the little stuff. Maybe that's what they want me to do! :ninja:

I'd like to know what exactly is so "proprietary" about their footswitch. They're not really breaking any new ground by using an XLR connection for that purpose. I realize that, depending on the technology, the channel switching could be proprietary but for $75? I don't need the stupid thing that bad!

I ordered my rack ears late last week and they got here Monday. I had to peel off the rubber feet on the bottom of the pre to fit in my rack space. I decided to wait on the footswitch to see how I like the Quest, and see if I really need it. I'll probably live without it.

BTW, I have mine matched up with a Crest LT-1000 amp and driving either an Epi 2x12 or Low Down Sound 5x8. I recently sold an Eden Navigator, and so far I think I really prefer the Quest.
