another self-delivered de-rail…

Ibaneze tuners arrived and after some disassembly & elbow-grease - 90% back to original state - ATC for 30 yr old hardware, not bad.

Magnets arrived - worked on the pu carrier a bit. Finished/sealed the wood, filed/sanded the aluminum, and epoxied the magnets in place. Need to get to the shop to cut out the maple stand support laminates. It was a long week so I'm just letting the day evolve at a slow pace. Bond Girl show tonight. For a change I'm using my red '93 A/S J w/NJ4's and NYXL rounds - we're playing "Experiment In Terror" and I play the lead tremolo lines so need a bit more high-end tone. On the original 1962 recording it sounds like a baritone guitar. I'm a stickler about keeping gear simple when playing only one 45 min set, usually my Oly wht '66 trib w/flats and (split-coil) Super 55's.

Did initial finishing on the stand supports, chiseled out the cavities for the feet and screwed them in - plenty solid. Will wait until the bass is finished to epoxy the carbon fiber stand to the supports. I'll have Marty spray the wood on the supports like the back (mid-value trans tobacco)

Maple is a hard wood in general but this blank is very hard/heavy. I want to connect the body pieces, fb to neck and neck to body before I do much more sculpting. Probably want to do binding routing before assembly also. So far so good.

What angle did you cut the body wings at?

Yes - I sent the center section and the wings through the same cut/angle. I used thin wood football-shaped inserts that helped register/keep it in place when I glued it together. Creating a leveraged clamping system was a bit tricky, but I pulled it off. I'm thinking it may be done soon (at Marty's) - getting excited to see it!

The EUB is done (being finished) by Marty Bell. I have 2 picture he sent (he always sends pics, which is nice) but I'm trying to decide whether to post them here or wait till it arrives and take my own pics of it. His lighting throws it off (not pro pics - serviceable) and so it looks a bit more high-key than it probably is in real-time. (Hint - it looks amazing!) Can you wait a couple of days? ;)
