At this point in time (until this pretty face walks the walk…) I'll say no. Mostly because I won't consider selling any of my work until I'm thoroughly wowed by it jointly in design, finish, playability and sonic offerings. This is the nature of a one-off exploration so far going well! (as in… will it justify reproduction/replication?) We'll see - time will tell. The (German) bow (from China) is still not here! I think I can safely cliquey w/o stereotyping (honestly - never my intent) - it's on a slow boat from China, and will be here later this month. (I ordered it May 22nd…)

It arrived from SoCal today - picked it up late and got one shoot of it in the fading light. It's quite lovely 'in the flesh' - more subtle in colour than the pic Marty was nice enough to send of it. I was a bit worried because judging the pics it looked a bit garish - but no, the colours are perfect. The quilting/flaming of the maple is off the charts and the back-side/neck is also much nicer - less red and more brown (trans-tobacco) and the perfect shade/value to allow the woods character to show through. Marty is a master finisher - hands down. Will have a bit of time tomorrow to work on it but no rush - there are many details to iron out and these details are what will make it happen. The bow is 'on its way' (was supposed to be here last Friday) and after an email asking for an update (politely) I received a 10% discount for the overly long delivery. (this is the sign of a good company - make the customer/client happy) So it should arrive here close to when I work out the details. (perfect timing)

Re-sprayed the bits & bats with what's called Oil Rubbed Bronze Metallic - it's a dark bronze with subtle metallic dust. Much better than the satin black. The pu support stuck to the metal ferrule of the chip-brush has magnets embedded in the feet. Made for a handy way to spray all around it and now dry/cure w/o touching anything.

The bow finally arrived (from China) It looks nearly identical to the one I used to own with the exception of being a rounded shaft compared to a multi-faceted (6?) shaft of pernambuco (at least I think it's pernambuco…) Anyway - it's perfect for my needs and was delivered just in time to use on this new instrument. The bits came out good - that Krylon product is superior to what I had first sprayed in a few ways. It leveled well, feels tight and looks great. I've been pretty busy lately w/little free time so I'll be taking a while to slowly assemble and set it up but now every things in the house. Next project is to build a HS case for it. I recently bought a vintage Teisco Del Rey (w/o case) and want to replicate one for it also based on pics I've found, so maybe I'll make them both at the same time. Like I need more projects…

Well, if I'm going to have to post a sound clip - I need to woodshed a bit so as not to embarrass myself. So this pic of me playing my 1950's plywood King Mortone should tell you how long ago it's been since I've played upright. (hint: it's a pre SX-70 "Swinger" print) Actually this is when I first got it ('76) and owned/played it until the early 90's.

So not much energy for working on it today - other than this small detail.

Here's a pic of the back (med value trans-tobacco) - the window shade refections confuse visually but this looks more like the actual colour (although it still looks reddish - it's more brown in reality) Applied 1 coat of the carbon shielding paint. (usually do 3 coats)
