As soon as they are readily available I will buy a set and send the loaners on. I'm not going to disturb my Oliv D&G, but should they give up on me then I'll use the Evil Paparazzi D&G and probably only replace the Oliv G. This is a great cost-effective solution, if one can ever apply such a term to DB strings.

They are really behind in shipping them. My suppliers were supposed to have them months ago but they have yet to get them to the large American distributors. I've called every couple weeks since May and they keeps quoting "two more weeks".

Good thing I have Spiros on! I'm in the bunker, and I can hold out longer than they can....

I was actually trying to match the sound I got on an earlier recording, just in case I needed to clean anything up, but I was just informed a few minutes ago that my tracks are "perfect". Yeah, right!.... :rolleyes:

If it gets to be too long, I'll just give the Olivs/Eudoxas thing a try.

Sorta OT... I Emailed Chris Quinn yesterday, and he said a couple of weeks as well. I'll probably sound like a shill for Quinn Violins, but I'd like to reiterate what great service I've gotten from them over the years. Even though they were ostensibly "closed" yesterday (Monday), I got a response almost immediately, and Chris offered to notify me upon the arrival of the Evah Pirazzis. In the past, Chris has always taken lots of time on the phone when I needed info on a product before laying down the cash. He was very helpful when I bought my first set of Animas from him.

Just a little credit where it's due.

same here, Chris is a wonderful honest person, its always a pleasure for me to make business with him, when buying some strings for me for my personal use or selling strings to him while at Velvet, he is always a gentleman , which all people would be like him.

If they keep delaying I might stop raising the dead and actually get good at bowing my Golden Spirals, which were supposed to carry me over from my (once again) :bawl: failed Eudoxa windings.

Anyone want to sell a set of used Jargars in the meantime? I need to do something soon, my cat is threating to move out!

THis thread has kind of dried up. Is anyone still out working with these strings? Any durability issues? I know we were waiting for shipping, but there are a dozen or so sets out there making the rounds. Initial impressions are nice, but I'm more interested in how they hold up over time, since that seems to be the issue with synthetic core strings.

I'm back to a full set of Jazzers, but they seem to be ready for a change after 1 year and I'm hesitent to order anything. I've got a few things laying around that I could probably put on to stall for a little while.

I have them on 2 basses and they're both holding up well. One bass has spent several days at outdoor venues of 90 degree temps and high humidity. The EP strings vary no more in pitch than any of the steel strings in use by the rest of the guys in our section. The wrapping remains perfect over the entire length, and there is no sign of buldging or separation at the bridge or the nut.

After working with them for a couple of months they are, for me, the most responsive orchestral string I've ever used. I haven't tried Bel Canto's but I'm not inclined to experiment any further.

I've had mine on since whenever that was, sometime in May. I'm not going to be messing with other strings on that bass as long as Pirastro is making these. They're so great in an orchestra setting, as Hampton mentioned...and for pizz, which is what I primarily do, they are simply the best I've come across. Very responsive yet dark. Pirastro hit a home run with these.

As for durability issues, I guess they haven't been out long enough to judge. I haven't had any problems this summer, but the strings are de-tuned for the first time this week (while Nick Lloyd installs a new bridge). When I get the bass back next week, I'll report as to whether there seems to be any loss of volume or tone or whatever.

I just got out of the studio, so I'll put some clips up soon on my Myspace page that show what the EPs sound like in a "live" (i.e. non-isolation-booth) studio setting.

No durrability issues here either. I am only using the E and A for now. I am pounding them 4-5 nights a week and have not seen a bit of wear. Much stronger than Obligatos. They are dark yet still growly. They also have a gut like "punch" I really dig. I sound like a broken record but they REALLY match up with Oliv's. I may start moving the Evah D on instead of the Oliv D but right now I don't want to fix what ain't broke.

Well, I'm not getting the feaver again (Uncle Toad), but the fundemental has started going out of my Jazzers after a year and I feel like it's probably time for a string change, even though I'm sure I could keep going with them for another 6 months or so.

I'm thinking I'll try these next. If I get my heart broken by some yet to be seen durabiliy issue, so be it. Pirastro is good about standing behing their products.

Good to hear that they are shipping.
