Extended Range Bass Club Thread (Part 2)

That's cool, I just thought maybe you played like it was a regular 4 string bass, but then use a slide for some of that Mark Sandman 5th intervallic slide bass stuff.

I was thinking about doing E-F, especially for learning and transcribing horn parts. I just need a low B.

To anyone in the club: What is your tuning and favorite style to play on the extended range bass?

I have the low F#-F on my 8-string. Truthfully, I don't use the low F# as much as I should (mostly only for the occasional Bb or A), but I think with some new pickups that have increased low-end response, I will use it much more often.

Style wise, I play it with everything. Played it out a few times with the old hard rock/metal band; I've played it in jazz.

Hi guys, been lookin' for a club with extended range basses, particularily 6 stringers.
So here's my beloved Yamaha TRB6II from '98. Got it for 765USD which is insanely cheap for that kind of bass here in Denmark. A great bargain, that gave me the best bass i have ever owned so far:

My new Zon Vinny VB-6.

Swamp ash, no top, natural matte finish. Unlined phenowood board, composite neck.

Series-single-parallel switch for each radiused Bartolini pickup, a 3 band EQ with push-pull mid-freq selector (250/800Hz). The new hipshot headless mounting system in black completes the bass.

I'm already member #026.
