Favorite bass color

I'd politely suggest that strictly only ever applies to light beams and NOT to paint / skin tones / or basses!

(Not sure that our bass hero James Jamerson, or Martin Luther King would have welcomed being described as "having an absence of color"!!)

I usually am a fan of both natural wood with oil stain matte and poly/nitro color finishes.

Vintage Teal Green Metallic (Sadowsky)
Olympic white Nitro (Fender)
Pearl Black Satin (Sadowsky)

Clearly bassists the world over have wood for wood!

It seems to me that brown and wood actually have quite a lot of overlap, with the distinction being that you can see the grain in 'natural wood'. So in the pic above, how many basses would you describe as wood and how many as simply a brown finish?

E.g. the semi hollow bass at the front would seem to be more 'brown' stain finish than wood (but that may be just 'cos the wood is that color naturally)

According to Takamine, it's "antique nutmeg satin", but you can see a little grain. I consider them all wood.

Yep, flat nat & black matte is my ideal as well - black headstock, if there must be one. My two basses both approximate the ideal. The hunt continues for a fretless 5 fitting the specs.
