No bass but finally got around to trying GHS flats, and I love them! Personally prefer these over LTFs and TIs by a good margin.

Yep. How I completely missed them (not just the flats but the whole line ) all these years is one I can't explain. They are readily available and not that expensive. I think the polarizing brite flats is a gem for my 6 string

I only bought one bass this year so this is it:

I've already gotten a black pearl pick guard for it:

In the upcoming month or so, I'll have a black plate John East J Retro 01 with Fender style knobs, Cosmo Black Gotoh lollipops, a Cosmo Black Gotoh Fender Style High-mass bridge, and a Cosmo Black string tree. I also have a set of Wilde pickups on the way, supposedly. I may opt for Nordstrand J Blades.

I'll be having my tech paint the headstock black and have some custom Jazz Bass decals for it:

Oops, they sent me Precisions by mistake, but Rothko and Frost made it right within a week! I hope to have him fill in the "Fender" with darker gold paint prior to clearcoat just leaving a.lighter border. Well within his capabilities. The goal is to have it look something like this:

I'll be posting a NBD when it's all put together.

Fretless Kiloton 5 I bought in September. I have been without a fretless for several years and am happy to have one again.

It may end up being my best new of 2023 as well… Shortly after getting it, I found the neck had issues. Currently at G&L getting a replacement built. I will not see it again until sometime next year. Still a great purchase (assuming the neck gets sorted out).

I purchased two basses in 2022 (and I sold four). After not owning a Jazz bass for 30+ years I decided I wanted one, but I ended up with two: a modified Fender Mexi-Jazz that I found at a local shop for a great price, and an Atelier Z JHJ (Jazz-Humbucker-Jazz) that I bought used from a retailer in Japan. I can't say which of the two is my favorite. The Mexi-Jazz is very fun to play and I love the classic look. The Atelier is also very fun to play, is active and sounds amazing, and will get used a lot due to its versatility (essentially two basses in one).
