I'm not finicky. If the place we're playing serves food and I can get there early enough to set up and eat without rushing I'll eat off the menu (+1 if we get free or reduced price food). What I've found is that I can't eat a really big meal right before a gig. So if I'm eating at the venue it's usually a sandwich and maybe some fries. I don't play well when drinking so I'll usually have 1 beer either before the gig or after the 1st set. I'll usually either stop off at DD's for a large coffee before I hit the road if I have a bit of a drive or grab one near the gig. At my age a little extra caffeine helps. I do make sure to drink soda or water throughout the night to remain hydrated.
If I eat at home it's usually a sandwich or leftovers, preferably an hour before I load the car up though if pressed for time I've been known to eat a sandwich while driving to the gig.
Yes. Love Dunks, man, love Dunks.
