Chris Squire is at the absolute top of the heap as far as I'm concerned. He's like the Paul McCartney of progressive rock: great melodic sense, great sense of style and flair, wonderful tone, intuitively understands the role of the bass, hugely influential, and composes/performs superb, highly-creative, out-of-the-box parts that really make the music!
