Favorite Rickenbacker 4003 Color

I find the lack of BlueBurst disturbing.

It's my understanding after a discussion on the Rick Resource page that Walnutglo and Autumnglo were the same color with a different finish; it was determined that mine above is Walnutglo because it is high gloss, and if it had been a satin finish it would be Autumnglo. Of course, I'm sure that also depended on what Ric decided it was from year to year.

This look is what i think RIC was going for when they introduced amber fireglo.It has that vintage look of a yellowed clearcoat,which to me just looks fabtastic.Yes, +1. I had a 1970s 4001 in Autumnglo. Back in the 1990s when I owned and ultimately sold it, Autumnglo was the finish nobody wanted (kind of like my Mocha 1974 Jazz Bass!). But absence has made this Ric fan's heart grow fonder, and I am a couple of days away from taking delivery on this *very* nice Fireglo 4001 from 1981. Fireglo isn't necessarily my favorite, but I think this one is understated and less orange than is sometimes the case. As soon as I saw that pick wear and the belt-buckled back, the switch in my head clicked on. Chad Beeler did setup and installed the treble bezel. In his words, "it's a good one for sure."
I wouldn't take what I wrote as definitive; it's what I've been led to think, but it may have been called Walnut, or it may have varied year to year. I think, though, that having the -glo attached helps to distinguish it from the current instruments that are made of actual walnut (and, of course look nothing like walnut-stained maple).
Burgundy was the colour of the year for 2002, indeed. I know cause I had one!!! Burgundyglo is another colour, which was offered a long time ago to my knowledge. Both are stunning colours, really.

I voted Walnut. I had a Walnut, but it had a terrible fret job on it. I went back to a Fender USA Geddy Lee Jazz. All better.
The shot of the Sea Green next to a Karmann Ghia is mine. The shot is mine. The bass is mine (still). But the Ghia is not mine. I was driving by the local doggie park a few days after acquiring my Sea Green 4003, and noticed this Ghia parked there. It was almost exactly the same color as my new bass. I sought out the owner and asked if he could hang around 15 minutes longer and if I could photograph his car. I drove one mile home for my camera and the bass, then posed it next to the car. A few months later, I went to a local car show and found this '32 Ford custom finished in, you guessed it, sea green, so I asked the owner if on his way home he might pull into my driveway so I could take a picture with my bass. He did and I did:

I voted for walnut - but they vary considerably. Some basses in that finish look cheap, but others look fantastic.
I've had a mapleglo and a fireglo for years and I think both colors are okay.
Of all the basses pictured here I like the jetglo with a black pickguard and matching headstock and the jade green 4004. I've never pkayed a 4004 and I'd like to check one out.
