Man I'm jealous. I'd really love to have a dual woofer. Some day I'll get around to making another 12/6. Just played on mine last night for the first time in 2 weeks. It was heavenly. But would've been twice as heavenly with more speakers![]()
Well your halfway there!! TB member Kekani let me try his 12 and it was crazy loud, that's what sold me!! That same week I got to try Jim carr's 15/6 with my GK and that was amazing, I actually had to turn down my highs (which is a good thing)...but even the single 12/6 is louder than both my Hartke cabs together...
No need to be jealous, I had to sell off quite a few things to fund this, but it has still been cheaper than buying a normal commercially built bass cab
(snip) I actually had to turn down my highs (which is a good thing)...
Keep that in mind when you finish your cab. Many FF builders find they need to re-think eq when going from most other cabs to a FF. I certainly did. My eq now looks more like a frowny face when I'm indoors. Otherwise, all that big LF starts shakin' and buzzin' everything in the room.![]()
The koa baffles on the 12/6 and 15 sub are still there, but I put a Fender style grill cloth over the 12/6 (I copied the mirror baffle 12/6 I built for a friend), as a sleeper cab. Hintz didn't get to see the koa baffle in person, but he does have it from my build thread (printed out).
Both of your hartke cabs? what kind?
And if I recall correctly Kekani had some pretty sweet veneers on the front of his cabs. But I may be confusing him with another member...
You won't be able to sell them quick enough once you've tasted homemade koolaid.
ya I held on to my old GK and SWR cabs when I first built my 1212/6/1 but they just collected dust and now that I've finished my second fearful(12/6/1) the last of my production cabs my SWR 12pack is listed in the classifieds, theirs just no need for other cabs now that I have my 12 inch monolith+1You won't be able to sell them quick enough once you've tasted homemade koolaid.
nope that's the build addiction kicking in,.. it's not going away, your lucky I have it with basses to, I can't even finish a build before I'm ordering parts for the next one, but im done building fearfuls until I can afford an rb2001 then I build another 1212/6/1 and run them in sterioYeah, I don't think ill have room for the hartke's, so ill probablysell em....
doing the stuff today I feel strange, like I was motivated to work on this and now its getting close to finished I feel empty a little, maybe this is that post partum depression mothers experience LOL.... But I'm sure once I plug it in all of that will be gone, I do wanna do this again though, it was way too fun for me![]()
