fEARFUL the solution to everything

I have the skills but no inclination to build my own cabs. I'm very happy with the Genz-Benz Shuttle cabs and they do everything I need.

People going on about Fearful is as tiresome as their going on about iPhones. (I just bought a new Samsung Galaxy S3 and I'm not interested in Apple's evil empire.)

Actually, I couldn't put my finger on it but that's exactly what the fEARful army reminds me of - those guys on tech blogs that destroy the comment section of any Apple-related post anywhere with pro-Android discussion.

Not saying the cabs (or Android) aren't awesome, but this subforum could definitely use a little more variety nowadays beyond pro/anti fEARful stuff...

Can't, every thread becomes eventually a fEARful thread.

All your fear are belong to us! :D

Actually, don't worry. They all used to eventually become about SVT, then SWR, then SVT, then Mesa, then SVT, then Bergantino, then SVT, then Epifani, then SVT, then fEARful, then SVT, then Thunderchild, then SVT, then Barefaced, then fEARless, then SVT, then... ;)

I have two fEARful 1515/66 type cabs, but I love listening to other bands through the backline ampeg stacks and PA support. I love going to my local small clubs and hearing tight playing through eden 4x10's and Markbass and SWR etc etc. JohnK has designed and built his own old school 2x15's, and if my house had not burned down I would still love my old Mesa 2x15 Diesel.
fEARful zealots just want to share the quality sound they have discovered. As people have pointed out, very few big name touring bands have them yet and may never hear about them or bother due to the endorsement thing. No one is asking you to drink the koolaid. I often times ignored folks who chimed in on threads saying that was what the OP should have. If you like what you play stay with it. Some of the early fEARful zealots are now adopting Greenboys newer designs like the fEARless 2x15.
He designs great cabs. Do you need one? You already started your thread with your answer to that one. Groove your bad self!

As long as SVT's in there, I'm cool with that ;)

That is, of course, an exaggeration. My browser shows 30 threads on the first page of the amps subforum. 3 are specifically Greenboy Designs based and while there might be the odd mention of a fEARful in SOME of those other threads it doesnt mean they "eventually all become fEARful threads".

Just be glad Greenboy created his own forum. Imagine how "bad" it would be if all that content was over here. :D

We can all remember a time, not too long ago, when that was the case. ;) Greenboy creating his own forum has not only served to benefit the fans of his work, but also cleaned house around here and kept the "brand x sucks, build a fEarful" postings to a minimum. In reality, there were just a few members that were pimping them to a point of exhaustion, but they were prolific posters.

Yeah, I hear ya Warwick Qc418...other threads will go south with relentless recommendations for TI Flats, SX basses, 1x3" flytanium cabs getting pushed by a 13 oz. 400 watt cigarette pack-sized head, orange-drop thing-a-ma-bobs, Sadowsky vs. Mike Tyson types of battles and various resons why some people don't like P-nut from 311.

Sometimes it's good to take a break from the forums and focus energies elsewhere. You will find that when you come back to check out the forums, it's sometimes the same 'ole song & dance. Skim through the thread titles and find what appeals to you.

Hope I didn't offend anyone. Y'all have a great Sunday.

I havnt had the pleasure of trying one yet but I doubt so many people would be so obsesed with them if they wernt a great cab. When something comes out that is really good I like to hear about it. I probably would have never tried the ampeg pro 7 if it never got so much attention and I was glad I did as i love the amp. Hopefully I can afford to buy a fEARful kit one of these days. Personally I'm glad to hear all the positive things about these cabs, only makes me want to try one. I think were lucky to have someone like Greenboy on our forum, one of our own who can design incredable cabs. I think he deserves our support.

If the 410 and other conventional speaker design are poor design, I see it as an engineering masterpiece to overcome those problems and still make cabs that sound really good.

If you like a square 4x10 cab, and it gets you the sound you want in the house, keep using it. But the inherent sonic characteristics of a square speaker array built on 10s are still there, no matter who makes it or how expensive it is.

Did that last sentence make you bristle? It was a statement of engineering fact. No value judgment was implied.

Some of us have chosen to use sound engineering principles to our advantage. That's what the fEARful is about: modern speaker technology and careful cabinet design making lighter, more efficient, full-range cabs that sound the same anywhere in the audience.

fEARfuls are just one point in the sonic design space. No one is touting them as the only answer. Look at what Duke LeJeune, Barefaced, and others are doing with modern technology. Then look at the composite and lightweight plywood 1x15 and 2x15 cabs people are building with "old school" tone and minimal weight.

What is truly unique about the fEARful? Anyone can build one from the freely available plans. No proprietary "secret sauce" involved.

Can you blame us if we crow a little bit about them?

This may be on the verge of changing as well.. There is an authorized builder in Nashville who has been opening some eyes and ears.. Touring musicians ARE taking notice. It takes time for things to develop, but I'm also finding out that time is speeding up...lol...
