Fender 8K+ Custom Shop Precision: Yea or Nay

No. You could buy two Lākland USA or Mike Lull P basses for less than $8k, and those are what I consider to be the best P basses available.
At the end of the day it’s still just a very nice PB.
Whether it’s “worth” that lofty asking price is purely a personal decision on the part of whomever is seriously considering buying it - and has the means to do so.
Either way, the world is your oyster if you’re going to drop $8K on a bass. So there’s lots of other alternatives to also consider if you’re shopping basses with that much cash in your pocket. Or so I think anyway.

I wouldn't buy that bass for $800. Of course, I'm not likely to buy any bass from Fender CS, especially one that's $8k.
If you put the bass without the paint job at $2500 dollars, you have to believe that’s a $5800 paint job. You can get a custom paint job on a vehicle for $5800.
If the bass is at $4k (that should be close on a custom shop P-bass) it’s a $4300 paint job.
It would be worth more to me in ready-to-paint condition so I could pick a nice pearl paint color.

For 8k I doubt I am their target demographic. Having said that, if 8k were no big deal to me I would buy it and hang it on the wall in my office. Probably wouldn't get played much because I'm a Jazz guy.
8k is alot for a single bass. You can get an unbelievable top of the line instrument from many other boutique companies for that price, maybe even less: Fodera, Skjold, Stambaugh. Heck, Sandberg can build you a fender style instrument to your exact specs for far less than that. IDK, I appreciate a lot of the reproduction work the FCS does, but some of their prices are just nutty.

Not the least bit interested in heavy clunky steel tuners - all my basses have Hipshot Ultralites. I also don't like the long neck thing - looks silly to me.
Really nice, but not my cup of tea, not to mention way out of my price range.
