Greetings from the North, For those that own or have played thru the Fender Bassman 115 Neo cab what's to like & what's not? Also what type of amp do you or did you use? Thanks Rezdog
Agreed! With either a Super Bassman or Bassman 100t on top. I've never heard one, but have a 'friend' on the Fender Forums that has a Super Bassman on top of a Fender Bassman Pro 410 & 115 stack. He says he "Loves It!" And I'll just bet that he does!
interested in this question as well. I have been looking at the Bassman because it will fit my Fender Studio (26"w) without any overlap. another related question is how do the Bassman 115 Neo and the new Rumble 115's compare. The Bassman is rated at 700w and the Rumble 115 is rated at 300w. They both list some kind of Eminence + adjustable tweeter. cost is a significant issue too. Bassman retails for $649 and the Rumble is currently retailing for $299 (!) with some online retailers offering free shipping.
Greetings from the North, LOL I got all excited thinking that Fender released a non Neo 115 version of the Bassman. But.............nope. Rezdog
I tried the NEO 610 when I was auditioning the Bassman. I was actually surprised at how natural sounding that NEO was.
Greetings, The Neo 610 is a great cab. But...... I prefer the bounce of a 15 to the punch of a 10. If I was a 10 guy the Neo 610 would be a great choice. Rezdog
I can understand that - I'm more interested in the 115s too. I was just saying the Fender NEOs are the most natural sounding NEOs I've heard.
My post in the Fender Bassman 100T thread from April 2012 refers. As it was a sample of 1, that's not conclusive, maybe the one I played was somehow defective.... I'd also be interested to hear from others. Can't seem to quote it, so c+p: I have been a bit disappointed with the new Fender 115. Had a leasurely test at a shop with a Bassman 100T. Twofold intention, one - I wanted to see if it would bring anything to the table tonewise that I dont have with my SF Dual Showman (it doesnt) and two - I was/am looking for a 115 with a suitable form factor (26" wide) for my Dual Showman. The 115 had no real lows. Going down the B-string in half tones, you could clearly hear the point, where the bottom went missing. Maybe it can improve when fully broken in, but I doubt it. Then, I started hearing some chuffing noises at medium volumes. Couldn't start taking the front off to investigate the port diameter or maybe there was some dampening inside flapping loosely... anyways... bit disappointed. Form was right, price was right, but tonewise, my Aguilar GS210 runs rings around it. Also compared the Bassman 100T into an Aguilar DB410 and Bergantino AE212, both sounded great in combination with the Bassman. Great amp, one does need to familiarize with the active EQ section of the overdrive chanel and the gain structure when using the blend knob. I'm a bit envious at all those modern cons it has to offer, but tonewise (for my tone goals) no different to my Showman. Just to be certain, I also tried the Aguilar TH500 into the 115 with the same results, no bottom and early chuffing. Ah well....
Well I've used the Neo 115 at a few gigs and a few rehearsals now. Seems likea perfectly good 115 cab. Handles a good gob of power. One gig I used it with the Super Bassman 300 and I was wondering if I should add another 115 cab. I didn't as we 'weren't supposed'' to be that loud. Ha. Famous last words. Needless to say, we got loud and I was wondering when the 115 was gonna start complaining. But it didn't. It handled a gig where the Un amplified acoustic drums were being bashed loudly and I sure the Guitarists Fender Blues Deville 212 was easily hitting power tube saturation. I was marveling a few times how punchy and solid my bass sounded- but the Super Bassman 300 does that every time I use it -so I shouldn't really have been surprised. The Neo 115 took all I threw at it that night. I think the amp master was on about 4 and channel vol about 7. Remember this is a monster amp. Handled the low B of the Stingray 5 fine . Dunno what the story with Old Dog's cab was above. ??? This can is so light that I'm considering grabbing it (or a couple of em) & selling my Berg AE112'S. Dunno. But I'll keep ya posted.
