He really should just ignore those emails/comments, not post them into his auction. It turns off serious buyers.

According to the 2008 Vintage Guitar buyer's guide, it is worth anywhere from $20,000.00-26,0000.00, so he is not that far off. He probably set a higher price and expects offers in the $20,000.00 range. BTW, Dan, if you spent more time with your bass and less time worrying about other people's Ebay auctions, you might learn how to play one day. BTW, why did you bold faced lie to me when you said you were a professional musician?

These answers have been posted here and on the Fender discussion board (the FDP), I've read them. That's the main reason his auctions get negative attention here and elsewhere.

I don't agree with the trolling, but that started after his behavior became well-known.

To be factual, no one asked him a legit ? about the bridge. The bridge looks just like a 61 bridge should. I did not see a single legit ?. Can you find even one legit question? I don't blame the guy a bit. Let's face it, the one guy who questioned if it was real asked about the "where" patterns. If your English skills are that poor, it stands that you can't afford the bass.

Why make up a bold faced lie that these instruments don't sell for this kind of money? Granted, I don't see this bass selling for $50,000.00 or $32,000.00, but according to the 2008 Vintage Guitar buyers guide, it is worth from $20,000.00-26,000.00. 59 Les Paul flame tops are selling for over a quarter million $. These collectors are ruining things for players. I'll agree with that. It is happening in the drum world too. A 3 piece Gretsch kit from the 60s with an 18" bass drum goes for anywhere from $5000-8000.00 now. THE silliest thing about that is anyone could buy a new Gretsch kit, out rounded over bearing edges on the toms, close the air vents and it will sound IDENTICAL to the old drums. I can see guitars and basses commanding more money than drums. I went to a guy's house here in Phoenix last year to sell him a drum. He had a 4 bedroom house and in 3 of the bedrooms and in a large den, he had drum kits packed to the ceilings and all 4 of the rooms were filled. I asked him what he did with them. He said he just like having them. It is sickening that guys like that who either don't play or barely play keep these instruments away from real players. At least with violins like Stradivarius and Guinaris, the people who own these multi million $ instrument allow great players to use them.

Without "nerds" that schmuck wouldn't even have an eBay or an Internet to sell his overpriced crusty old garbage. And if I had a choice of being a grade-A ******* with a 1961 Fender or a decent, respectable guy with a Squier, I'd stick to the latter option.

I have owned at least 25 Jazz basses. I know the models better than most Fender employees. The neck is certainly legitimate. However, the body is (without a shadow of a doubt) not a Highway One. It is a Mexico body (from the Standard Jazz bass).

Here is how I know...

I guess maybe I can buy the idea of a "custom special run" Highway One with a gloss finish. However, if you understand how guitars are made, you know that the dyes that create the "sunburst" look are applied prior to the gloss. Therefore, your Highway One bass should have the exact same sunburst design as the normal Highway One bass.

But it does not. It has the exact same sunburst as the Mexico model. Here are some links for you. Look especially at the back of the bass:




Compare the basses above to yours:


You can plainly see that your bass is a Mexico model. My goal here was to prevent someone from getting ripped off.

Really, if you think about it, this is better for you. Imagine if you had actually sold that to someone. They would receive the bass and inspect it more closely and realize they got ripped off. Then they would send the bass back, file a dispute with PayPal and eBay, and give you negative feedback. I will do none of that.


Rob, that is the last I will speak of this. I have made my case. Now, back to the original topic...

I was referring to his auctions in general, and there have been many where he was rude when asked legit questions.
