Fender La Cabronita Precision Bass

My understanding is that those Cabronita basses are "normal people" versions of their "Proto Bass Custom Shop Creation".

I wouldn't do that on this bass. E and G are slightly off of poles in that position, I guess they would be even more off in bridge position. Also I'm not into additional pickups on 51' P basses.

Mmm.. don't now. It doesn't suit very well cosmetically. Out of style compared to the fidelitron.

I use D'Addario nickel rounds. Not Cabronita specific though, I use them on all of my basses.

I have a Fideli'Tron mounted in an SX J clone with the original SX pup in the bridge position. I have to say it sounds pretty good when matched up and both are on full.

Fortunatly, I didn't need to care about aesthetics.

However, with that said the results may not apply to your sound, anyways, as I've got the original .047uf cap in there and not the Cab's .022uf.

If anything, I'd add another 'Tron at the neck position. Sort of a Rick-O-Nita thing...

I use DR Lo Riders Nickel on mine.

Mmm.. don't now. It doesn't suit very well cosmetically. Out of style compared to the fidelitron.

I don't mind cosmetics it has to be functional an good sounding.

Found an original Cabronita in sunburst on sale. Fully loaded, only needs a neck. I'm so upset because it wouldn't be a huge expense but I'm damn scared of paying around 350 euros, needing to find a neck, putting it together, and than risking to not like it. Damn you, Fender.

Looks like musiciansfriend and GC are selling Cabronita's for $399. GC has only the sunburst and MF has black and burst, both out of stock. I wonder if Fender is discontinuing it.

I was in Holland in 2006 and $100 got me 60 Euro, I think.

A great bass though. I love the necks on these. I'm considering getting one in sunburst but you never know if you're gonna get ugly wood grain or not.
