I like it! Glad it’s active/passive. I just went to Fender.com and couldn’t find it. Sweetwater doesn’t have it either. I like the blue one best. Interested! Thanks OP for alerting me to a cool new design. I’d be happy to rotate this with my P’s.

Well I can tell you with a seatbelt strap there is minimal neck dive. Still super easy to play. With a leather strap it has enough resistance and stays upright. F Enders should have done matching head stocks however.

So it is at least a bit divey, as I would expect. Leather strap would be a nonstarter for me ... not a comfortable solution, either, for me, strap tugging at my shirt, friction keeping the neck afloat. Also looks like it would be a bit "reachey", with that strap button location. So yeah, not gonna be my cup of tea, can see that just looking at its configuration. Happy for you, glad you're enjoying.

I agree. Maybe it's just because I'm so accustomed to other options, but I've never gotten down with the color of it specifically. I can't speak as to much much/if it differs too much from rosewood in terms of tone but I imagine it does.

I really want Fender to embrace ebony boards. I'm not sure about the cost of ebony in relation to pau ferro, but Sire uses ebony on their entry and mid level offerings.

I have a Fender Rarities Jazz Bass that has a bound and dotted ebony board. I guess it really is a rarity! For me, the pau ferro looks and feels terrible. It doesn't sound any different, but it feels like dusty, rotten cardboard.

Hmm, so kind of heavy too, if that's a typical sort of weight (obviously that can vary, but if we got one coming in at 9.6, it's unlikely that others are gonna actually be light). A full 3 pounds heavier than my main player, along with the ergonomic issues already touched on. I don't value form over function. Hard pass.

Been thinking about this bass. Since you had to back rout for the batteries anyway, why not back rout the control cavity and skip that less than attractive PG?

So I use Couch straps which are not leather or sticky, but also not a seatbelt. I dig the body shape and can’t wait to see how Fenders version plays.

You can also clip your strap into your belt loops to kill any neck dive on any instrument.

I don't actually do that though. I also fear these basses are just, just missing the mark in too many ways for me. I love the shape, I love that they're active too! The colours are okay, could be better. I'd give all of 'em maple boards except the burst that needs pao and tort. Except these would look better without pickguards. And I'd rather soapbars or even the ol' Dimension pickups over the double Js, Plus where's the B string?

I still have GAS for a Meteora but I don't GAS for any of the current ones if that makes sense. Hopefully they last long enough for at least 1 refresh. I'd love one, if it was light enough.

Yeah the 6-string guitars popped up on reverb today. Coil split, new fireball humbuckers, and a whammy bar. The Cosmic Jade looks cool.
