This is the thumbrest that was on my bass when I got it. It was refinished and had a 90s era white pickguard. It was difficult to photograph this thing, so I don't know if it's possible to tell by the photos, but does this look old or reissued?

My 62 jazz rest is brown. Original.
1963. It's a re-re-fin and the pickguard is by Spitfire Pickguards.
Same with mine. Its pretty thin plastic but somehow feels solid when screwed down.8)
My old thumb rest is such thin plastic (perhaps vinyl?) it flexes easily when un-mounted. Sides are more 'caved in' than warped because it's so thin. Weird because it seems so solid when screwed down.
Whoa!! That's nice!!!Thought I'd share these with you guys too...some more shots of my 63.

Here's some pics of my 56. All original, 8 lb 13 oz with both covers fitted. Everything as it should be.
Could I have a number, please? I know we are up to 55, but 56 would be kind of cool.

So was it random back then if you got brown or black or did the jazz basses have brown and the P basses black??
My '59's tug bar looks black, but if you hold it up to the light is is translucent and has a reddish cast to it. It's also warped a bit on one side.
That is beautiful! Ihave a Fall, 62' all original with case, covers and mutes, and also born in 1958!Hi all,
